AMD has reportedly discontinued production of its flagship Radeon VII graphics card. According to a Cowcotland report, AMD no longer finds it viable to produce and sell the Radeon VII at prices competitive to NVIDIA's RTX 2080, especially when its latest Radeon RX 5700 XT performs within 5-12 percent of the Radeon VII at less than half its price. AMD probably expects custom-design RX 5700 XT cards to narrow the gap even more. The RX 5700 XT has a much lesser BOM (bill of materials) cost compared to the Radeon VII, due to the simplicity of its ASIC, a conventional GDDR6 memory setup, and far lighter electrical requirements.

I suspected this might happen when they were no AMD partners building custom models of this card.

Now that VII isn't taking up Fab space let's see a big Navi die to appropriately take on the 2080ti!

don't spoil the new refresh coming

Those who abuse power, are nothing but scumbags! The challenge of power is how to use it and not abuse it. The abuse of power that seems to create the most unhappiness is when a person uses personal power to get ahead without regards to the welfare of others, people are obsessed with it. You can take a nice person and turn them into a slob, into an insane being, craving power, destroying anything that stands in their way.

You have to admit that would be very Threadripper like.

Drop the midrange option, let the competition play their hand then drop bombshells.

Show me a monster Navi die with 12+ gb ram! My 1080ti needs something that well and truly swamps it for under $1000

Or maybe Intel will enter the room with something awesome next year.

I hope that doesn't happen, not because I own a 2080 Ti  but because that would hold back the future releases of the next gen me thinks.

Well we know Navi will be around for a while because in the August/September time-frame custom Navi cards from AMD partners will start to make their appearance.
