AMD's "Big Navi" GPU is nearing the launch on October 28th, just a few days from now. This means that benchmarks of the card are already appearing across the internet, and we get to see how the card performs. Being divided into two different versions, Big Navi comes in Navi 21 XT and Navi 21 XTX silicon. While the former is available to AMD's AIBs, the latter is rumored to be exclusive to AMD and its reference design, meaning that at least in the beginning, you can only get Navi 21 XTX GPU if you purchase one from AMD directly.

Today, thanks to the Twitter account of CapFrameX, a frame time capturing tool, we have benchmark results of the Big Navi GPU in Firestrike Ultra. According to the people behind this account, the card scores about 11500 points in the benchmark. Compared to NVIDIA's offerings like GeForce RTX 3080, which scores about 10600, the AMD card is 8.5% faster. It is not known whatever this is Navi 21 XT or Navi 21 XTX silicon, however, we can assume that it is the former, and AMD is keeping the XTX revision to themselves for now. This result could be a leak from some of the AIBs, so it could not be the final Big Navi performance. All of this information should be taken with a grain of salt.

It remains to be seen if this is true or not but it will be exciting if it is.

Specs: AMD Ryzen 9 3950X,  M.2 2TB, 128GB DDR4  Crosshair VIII Hero, EVGA RTX 3090 FTW3 Ultra,  Associate Code: H5U80QBH6BH0AXF

While I am a bit more open-minded than that I will say if a similar price and performance I would definitely go Nvidia. They just have a better track record. That may change in a generation or two but that is how I feel right now.

I've had plenty of both red and green, but I must say that it appears Lisa Su has been steering things in the right direction.

After 18 years of being a Nvidia fanboy maybe it's time to switch green to red.

its hard to put it in perspective because i never did firestrike ultra at stock and that there is a cpu test in there....so they could easily be using a new amd cpu and scoring over 40k on the cpu test......which would dramatically bring up total score.

    I know i was able to score 14,136 with a 10,900k.
What do your stock 3080s score with the 450w bios? Also how well does the amd card OC? honestly we need more info and they should have done a port royal as well.

    They?
This is a leak. Don't expect "them" to do anything that you ask them to do. And don't believe it either.

The official launch is in 2 days. We should have a lot more information -- and official -- then.

Yup. Never forget, these websites get paid for bringing in clicks & eyeballs for ad revenue. They don't suffer for being inaccurate. Look at WCCFTech, they created a bogus rumor about a 20GB 3080 & then reported that NVIDIA "killed" that product line, less than a week later, all without a single shred of proof.

Take everything with a bag of salt. These sites are not reporting "news" they are trying to cultivate rumors just to get seen.

I dont go by benchmarks. You have to go by overall performance in the games that pushes the GPUs to their limits.

Those who abuse power, are nothing but scumbags!
The challenge of power is how to use it and not abuse it. When you abuse it, it reverses on you and it hurts you.The abuse of power that seems to create the most unhappiness is when a person uses personal power to get ahead without regards to the welfare of others, people are obsessed with it. You can take a nice person and turn them into a slob, into an insane being, craving power, destroying anything that stands in their way.

While the numbers do indeed look great, they didn't show any DXR benchmarks for comparison. I wonder if the leaked Port Royal benchmark showing RDNA2 tanking with RT performance are correct now. They also didn't mention any specialized RT accelerating hardware like Nvidia's RT cores to offload the ray casting computations too. If they don't have specialized hardware acceleration units that means they are relying purely on their streaming multiprocessors to calculate it which would explain the drop off in performance in the leaked Port Royal benchmark. At any rate I was still impressed by the numbers they showed and and highly anticipating independent reviews.

Someone whispered Mister Huang what AMD is having in their pipeline it seems.
Otherwise I doubt that Nvidia would have pushed their cards without actually having chips ..
I tihnk the 3000' launch was scheduled for a later time but they wanted to release ... and we see what happened.
If EVGA does not get any cards to EU until Mid December I will go AMD.

Ya I agree, they didn't show anything on Ray Tracing.... meaning it wasn't that impressive. Assuming the leaks are correct it will be around 2080ti level.

The size of the card is much smaller than Nvidia also.

Edit: looks to have 1 Ray accelerator per compute unit.

He's been banned again (hopefully for a bit longer this time) but I don't think kevin is "trolling" like the other hardcore "person" was.

I want to see some independent reviews before I speak. Yes, the slides look great, but would you expect anything less from their own presentation? That's their job: To paint their product in the best light possible. I want to see when reviewers actually have them in hand and see what the numbers look like. AMD suspiciously neglected to show anything with RT performance numbers, be it stand alone numbers or comparison graphs. So if the 6000 series cards suffer heavy performance penalties with DRX effects like Turing did, then AMD has some work left to do.

I want to see some independent reviews before I speak.

Yep.  All I've seen so far are some very sketchy approximated 3Dmark tests.

I want to see Nvidia get hosed as much as the next guy, but I don't trust AMD further than I can throw a crate of 3950X's.

    Tuxedo.
If EVGA does not get any cards to EU until Mid December I will go AMD.

This is what AMD is banking on. NVidia has screwed the pooch so bad on the 3000 series that all they have to do is have adequate stock & they're going to win this product cycle in a landslide.

Even if performance is slightly worse 3090/6900XT | 3080/6800XT it won't matter if they're cheaper and available to actually buy.

Lets see some 3DMark scores and drivers that work.

Ah, still leaning on that early 2010s motto are we? AMD drivers have been fine this past gen; doubt there will be any issues going forward with this one.
