On the heels of AMD's EPYC sales surge, ServeTheHome claims it's heard from a "number of customers" that Intel is giving "significant discounts" for its Xeon processors "to hold AMD EPYC at bay." Those discounts are reportedly happening at quantity levels well below 1,000-unit trays, and not just to its largest customers.Intel is "more or less matching the price" of EPYC alternatives for some customers, presumably in a bid to keep or gain their business and maintain market share. EPYC is keeping Intel on their toes. Should be interesting to see what happens when AMD releases its 7nm EPYC gen 2.

It's more proof that Intel is price fixing when they can play fast and loose with price point. Interesting to see Intel play by AMD's rules. Typically the stronger competitor sets the marketplace rules and scope.

Exactly! Another sign of desperation by Intel. Even with that discount, Intel can not stop the demand of the customers for AMDs chip. Watch AMD cutting prices as well.

Those who abuse power, are nothing but scumbags! The challenge of power is how to use it and not abuse it. The abuse of power that seems to create the most unhappiness is when a person uses personal power to get ahead without regards to the welfare of others, people are obsessed with it. You can take a nice person and turn them into a slob, into an insane being, craving power, destroying anything that stands in their way.

I wonder if they will again continue with their illegal practices, which not only made them have to pay AMD over a billion dollars in fines, but earned them several times that, and crippled AMD in the process.  When companies can play so fast and loose with their prices, regulators need to step in and apply the law.  The last time they did this, it really hurt AMD, as they were gaining ground on Intel.  This time around, AMD has a severely superior product in EPYC, and Intel has actually gone on record that they will do anything to keep AMD out of the hands of their customers.

If they aren't price gouging, there isn't anything else to do.  Let capitalism take it's course.  Let the price wars begin.  The consumer wins in the end or at least usually does as long as there isn't any insider shenanigans (price fixing) from all parties involved.
