yeah but look at the core count to price I think that is a good deal, the core i9 9980XE was only 18 cores 36 threads for 2 grand this is double that and comes in at 2 grand

I'll probably get one and a new motherboard. I already have a gen 4 m.2 ready for it.

64 threads, 4.5 turbo with 72 PCIe 4.0 lanes and probably a shart ton of ram slots. I gotta ask myself just what next generation will be like if they've lost their minds this much?

GTXJackBauer The irony here is, you blasted intel for their ridiculous prices in the past but here you are ready to pull the trigger on a similar pricing scheme but only because it's team RED.
P.S. - Welcome back to the forums. Seems you were MIA for a while.
Well in his defense Intel was charging $1700+ for a 10 core.... because they could. That said I do agree that AMD realizes they have a flagship part that Intel has nothing to compete with so they are charging a premium... because they can. Ironic as that is exactly what Intel was doing.... its almost like these companies are out to make as much profit as they can... interesting :-)

3970X vs 9980XE in price point? No contest. Intel would need a fire sale to compete $/core.

. uh hmm. Thank you...yes i'd been away for while providing a few inputs here and there, wont say who . As for AMD charging price can't you see is justified. New tech with more features that not even Intel can offer , for a great price of course. The video speaks for it self. I can elaborate more if you want. Threadripper 3970x broke 10k in Cinebench R15, faster than 4 x Xeon Platnuim 8160 all together... the 3990x may actually have a chance at 20k, not really important but neat.

rjohnson11 I believe Intel is going to announce their new CPUs tomorrow as well.
I hope so and hope it's lower than the rumored pricing.
atfrico If Intel sticks with the original pricing scheme for Cascade-X, I see them giving AMD more room to grow. I have been thinking about Intel 12 core / 24 thread, but at $680, I can see where AMD's 12 core at $499 will walk all over Intel.

One thing I have to admit I don't see anyone who has gone with AMD recently posting they wish they hadn't. I personally like the history I have had with Intel but have to admit AMD is doing great things recently against Intel. Still seems like NVIDIA has held up pretty well though against AMD in testing as I think ray tracing is something people are seeing as a benefit now that a large enough catalog of games exist to justify looking for a card with it as a feature.

Ya AMD has a long ways to go on the GPU front, of course 3 years ago they where closer on GPU's than CPU's. That being said AMD won't benefit from Nvidia failing at process node as they are using the same foundry. AMD will have to literally beat Nvidia with architecture..... that's going to be very tough.
