I had a friend excitedly tell me he was only 20 hours away in the queue. I laughed at him because the thought that anyone would actually get one of the these cards at this point is just a joke. EVGA lead everyone on with the queue. Even after they raised the prices they didn't start fulfilling preorders.

I would blame the chip fabs more than anything at this point. It's such a lucrative business that only a handful of them exist to supply the entire world. A supply shortage was already nearing, and the pandemic only exacerbated it.

NVIDIA is the one to blame here, they are the ones that halted production for greed back in October.

We all know that Nvidia is greedy, but that’s any successful company. Some just hide their greed better than other. Otherwise, I would take anything that Moore’s Law is Dead says with a grain of salt.

Intentionally halting production seems like a stretch.  I don't know enough about production to know whether or not rate is really better than volume financially.  I'm skeptical that it is.  The more likely scenario is that they're winding down RTX30xx because there is a newer design coming and "wasting" supply on an old technology is a bad investment for consumers and producers.

Plus, price fixing is an antitrust violation in the USA (illegal) and NVidia is a USA listed public company.  If the production halt claim is true and its to keep prices artificially high, NVIDIA is playing with fire.

If there are artificial supply antitrust activities by Nvidia, it won't just be Intel that steps up - console makers like MS, Nintendo and Sony will also step up to bat.  They have the scale and reach to squeeze anyone.

Well if the other rumor is true, the RTX 2060 is being put back into production with some tweaks to it. Talk about wasting supply.

Saving a few *whatever your local currency is* by going with the Gaming vs Ultra model is why you are in Queue so long.  The Gaming and Ultra 3090 FTW3 are the same card, but the Ultra model costs about $50 US more.  No reason for EVGA to not make those $50 extra.  That why the 3090 FTW3 Gaming Queue hasn't moved form launch day orders.

This is saving me tons of money. I was going to upgrade everything this year - CPU, RAM and EVGA GPU and mobo...but not now. Also was going to buy Far Cry 6 and some other games with ray tracing but why bother if you can't take advantage of the all the graphic bells and whistles that NVIDIA constantly pukes about? By the time I get an RTX at MSRP , Far Cry 6 and a dozen other games will be in the $4.99 bin on Steam!

2021 is definitely not the year for many things, especially chip industry.

I am beginning to have doubts they will ever be able to fulfill at least a third of their queues numbers by the launch of ada lovelace.

Let's hope for the best, but expect the worst!

NVIDIA does not do it very well, they've managed to nearly double the cost to the consumer each new series with this method to short the market demand for 3-4 months before the next generation.

As for Moore's Law is Dead... I find them to be a decent source but often taken out of context. It's definitely good to have multiple sources to confirm it's accuracy, but in this case... everyone also reporting on this is using Moore's Law is Dead as their source.

I was tired of waiting. Bought an AMD graphics card instead. Probably paid too much for it, but at least I have it.

I had a friend excitedly tell me he was only 20 hours away in the queue. I laughed at him because the thought that anyone would actually get one of the these cards at this point is just a joke. EVGA lead everyone on with the queue. Even after they raised the prices they didn't start fulfilling preorders.

Actually: No. They didn't lead anyone on. They did the best they could and have fulfilled multiple queue waiting peoples orders. If you have an issue, blame the governments for shutting down the world over a stupid virus....and the chip fab plants for
shutting down along with the order to....eVGA can't make what it isn't provided parts for...and this has nothing to do with eVGA messing up....

You can more easily buy any Evga card from a microcenter or newegg than from the queue. Everyone in the queue is bottom priority. They get a fraction of a percent of supply available. The problem isn't the shortage, it is evga's priority of who they will sell to. Just from keeping my eye on the stock, I am fairly certain my local microcenter has sold more evga cards in the last year than people who have been fulfilled by the queue. I spent months waiting on the queue for nothing. I spent a week trying to get a card from newegg and got it.

Oh really? Is that why EVGA cards have been selling for 2x msrp or more in EU this entire time and they've barely allocated ANY cards to the EU queue...which has moved like what, five weeks in two years?

RainStryke
NVIDIA is the one to blame here, they are the ones that halted production for greed back in October.

RTX 3090's are all ready selling for over 3K on eBay. Gonna be insane until they release the next refresh of ampere.

Starting to believe that is true. It's been over a year and supply still hasn't put a dent in the demand. If a refresh was one month away, that wouldn't hinder RTX 30 sales. People are wanting to upgrade but are unable to find any RTX 30 in stock.
