My 9900k runs OK when idle (40-50s) & gaming (60-70s) but if I push it with encoding it ramps up to 100c & throttles. I have not overclocked & run on a Corsair h150.
I'm just wondering what others are using and what kind of temps you're getting. I may eventually delid or do a custom loop but feelin' lazy at the moment.

Re-mount the cooler to the CPU and check what your thermal paste looks like. It's possible it's not contacting and transferring heat properly.

EDIT: When you re-mount the cooler, put all 4 screws in loosely. Start at the top left corner and tighten it, then go to the bottom right, top right, bottom left (X-pattern). Then double check and tighten the screws down again.

I'll give that a go. I also bought some Thermal Grizzly cuz everybody says it's the best right now. I should get it tomorrow.

Good luck, a lot of these brackets have retention issues that the brackets aren't milled properly & causes loose/no contact points to transfer the heat.

    Hope it works out.

That is hot. If I run a prime95 heat test, my 4.7 Ghz overclocked 9900k only gets up to 61C. I'm running an NZXT Kraken X52 with stock paste.
Make sure your radiator is pulling in cool air from the room as intake rather than using air from inside the case.

I was able to work on it yesterday. Re-mounted the cooler with Kryonaut. I also added exhaust fans to the top of the case.
CPU is running @ 4.7Ghz.  Idle in the 40s. Ran Aida64 for an hour. Temps stayed in the 80s. No throttling.
Last night I ran Handbrake on a couple of HD movies. Stayed under 90 and no throttling.
