RIP my 980ti, you served a good 6 years, was just playing a game when it suddenly decided to go up and smoke and try to combust. Thankfully I disconnected the power before it did so, it's unfortunate the market is the way it is as well, as I certainly would've bought another card by now.

    It has become rather common.
     
    Sorry for your loss.
     
    If it still has a warranty, contact EVGA and EVGA will take care of you.  Otherwise, you can try to repair it (or get it repaired), or sell it as non-working used on eBay.

    Wow, how hard were you pushing that thing? Or do the components just go out in a blaze of glory when they fail?

    It has become quite common on those generation of video cards with the NVIDIA reference design; especially the 970 model with its lack of VRM heatsink.  You don't have to push them or abuse them for them to fail.

    I wasn't really particularly hard on it, in fact I bought the hybrid models specifically to increase the lifespan of the cards under the anticipation that the better cooling solution would prolong it's life. Apparently not, granted 6 years is 6 years, it's just mildly disappointing when I have older gens of cards that still run fine to this day. Also sucks that we're in the market that we're in, otherwise I would've already ordered a 3080 Hybrid :(

    That really sucks, hopefully you can get lucky and get a new card soon. As a person with a non TI version Im hoping mine can hold out until this situation gets better or I get lucky.

    My condolences. Planned obsolescence? mine is still rolling even Cyberpunk, not maxed out but at least it's still rolling: D
    Hope it continue like that for at least next year when, hopefully, the shortages ends. . .
