Hey! First time posting here..

My 980 Ti started showing heavy artifacts last night. I tried different games, applications, multiple restarts and so on. But, the problem was still occuring.
I called the online retailer "alternate.de" since I've bought it there in April, 2016. They said they don't have ANY 980 Ti's left in stock, they told me to message EVGA.

Now, the problem. I've called the german customer support, since I'm located in Germany. But, they told me that that my exact model isn't in stock.

I have no problem, to send it in for RMA, but how is everything going to be handled, if EVGA  hasn't got any 980 Ti's left in stock for exchange?

(Sorry for my bad english, since I'm german.)

Your english is fine.

When EVGA receives your card, they may have a replacement in stock by that time. If they dont have one, they will send you a replacement that is equal to or better than your 980ti.

That could be a slightly upgraded 980ti or a 1070. It really just depends on what is available when your card makes it to the warranty center.

Hey! Thanks for the fast reply.

Okay, now that sounds fine to me. I hope they have the exact same model in stock, otherwise I need to buy a new Waterblock.. But, hey. I guess I have to take that in price..

Thank you so much for the fast reply again!

Absolutely. Hopefully they are able to get you online as soon as possible.

Could you post pictures of your rig? You mention waterblock, and I love watercooling, so it would be nice to see your system.

I am also going to love this thread over to the warranty section, since the question is about warranties.

Yes, sure! I'm glad you're interested. Here's my build, I need to redo some of the lines, since I'm not happy about some. The GPU has a backplate too, I was just too lazy to update the album. :P

I have got another problem now.. I contacted the German EVGA support via phone. Everything wen't fine, they told me to open a ticket and state my problem. The lady on the phone asked me a few questions about my Hardware and my peripherals. (I guess to make sure it's 100% a fault with the GPU?)

I answered, that I have a EKWB Waterblock on my GPU. She then said that she can't help me, because I "modified" my GPU, breaking the warranty. She then hung up on me..

I called a second time and another person was on the line. The conversation wen't exactly the same, as soon as I mentioned that I have a waterblock on the GPU he said, that EVGA won't RMA my card, because I broke the warranty, dissassembling it.

The main reason I wen't with EVGA is because of their nice customer support and the ability to add a 3rd party Cooler, without breaking the warranty..

What do I do now? I can't afford a new GPU at the moment and I need my PC for my job..

That isnt correct. Do you still have your stock cooler and baseplate that came with the GPU?

As long as you can out the card back into is it's original configuration, everything will be fine.

Your system is beautiful!

Let me know about your waterblock, and if you can out the air cooler back on. I will get someone to help you out some more.

Yes, I still have the OEM aircooler and all the screws..

Thanks, bending all the tubes was a long job..

I've got two more questions though.

1. Are the EKWB blocks compatible with the 1070/1080?

2. I don't want to be rude asking this, but if there's no 980 Ti left, I will probably get a 1070, like you mentioned. I bought the 980 Ti for 656€ back in 2016 and the 1070 performs slightly worse and cost's less.. I think about 450€-499€. Wouldn't that be a downgrade?

Please note that if you use the card with custom waterblock (this does not void your warranty), you will need to put the original cooler back on the card in order to do the RMA. When you message EVGA Eu, please make sure that you mention that you will need the same model to mount the watercooler on it and they will try to assist as best they can. Please contact the EU office again as that should not void the warranty, but you would need to have the original cooler.

#1, the 980ti waterblock would not fit the 1070 or 1080.

#2, it performs better in some games. evga will likely get you onto the same card, so hopefully you wont have to worry about that.
