Dear members of Team Crunching@Evga

SETI.Germany and Team LAF organize the Charity Event 2016. It takes place from 01/17/2016 at 00.00 until 01.30.2016 at 23.59. ( 16.01.2016 22.00 UTC - 30.01.2016 21.59 UTC )
This year we will be provided for the project POEM @ Home.
Team change:
Shortly before the change of their core team participants in the charity team :boinc.fzk.de/poem/team_display.php?teamid=863  , and expect from the 01/17/2016, at 00.00 clock for the project POEM @ Home. Participation is voluntary.

In the project settings, it is easiest if all available WU-types are allowed.
SETI.Germany and Team LAF invite all BOINC teams to participate.

    Sounds like we need to crunch POEM@home under the official charity team during the challenge. If there's interest from the EVGA team, we'll need to either all switch our existing accounts over to the chairty team, or we all crunch for a single EVGA account under the charity team.

    At least that's how I interpret this.

    Okay. So if we want to do this as individuals or as a single account we give up our personal stats for the 2 weeks. Poem is one of my favorite projects and I'll be crunching it anyway so I'm willing to join in either way. I guess my preference would be to create a joint account. That way, there is some at least some camaraderie.
     
    CET is 6 hours ahead of EST so we're just 3 hours from the start now. Chime in if we want to do it.

    This is a High Credit Project on the GPU side and Very Long on the CPU Side.

    Maybe Some Team Members would but then why have teams to begin with? Where is the "Challenge" if we change teams all the time.

    Totally understand.
    As I said, we could create a separate account called "EVGA for Charity" or some similar name and join as one unit. It just means giving up personal stats for 2 weeks and it's only for POEM.

    I've created an "EVGA for Charity" account at POEM@home. I will connect my PC to it shortly. Here are the instructions for contributing under this account using the account's "weak key".

    To attach a computer to your account without using the BOINC Manager, create a file named account_boinc.fzk.de_poem.xml in the BOINC data directory, and set its contents to:

    <authenticator>75854_5d2bb7d1e6289b5020388f2440ef3600</authenticator>
    </account>

    That post is 2 days old so I assumed all is ok. I'm giving it another try and will let you know. I have no use for cpu work on this project and will set up gpu only if I can and it's ok with everyone.

    Do we delete or move our current file account_boinc.fzk.de_poem.xml from the Folder First?
    Also should we remove the Project through BAM! if used before we make this change?

    I've never used the weak key method before. From a Google search, it sounds like we'll need to detach from POEM project first (BAM or BOINC Manager directly). Create the new file and restart BOINC.

    As per yodap's post, I've updated the account to use GPU only (no CPU).

    Thanks, I hope we do not screw up our BOINC Stuff doing this, I think this is asking us to much custom work.
    Maybe they can do it better next year. I also do not see how this is for Charity? And What Charity?
    No to test this and to see what also happen to my Host Data that I am changing this on.

    As a heads up, I had to reboot rig, not just restart Boinc. Yours may be different.
     
    Edit: My bad, I didn't exit it, just closed it from the X. On the 2nd rig, exiting and restart worked perfect.

    I did have a hard time getting this computer to change over to the and I will say after 4 reboots and resetting the account files it came up under the new user and team.
