Hi guys hoping someone can help we have just bought a new gpu (RX560) and we have noticed that CPUZ says the pcie speed is only at X8 even though the card is in the top X16 slot, is there a setting we need to change in the bios or is the new card just not compatible with the old board???
Cheers in advance

Try doing a cmos reset, then reboot and resetup your bios config, save your settings and reboot again.

i seem to remember something about AMD/ATI cards acting funny in nforce based boards, think it might have been this. nvidia did some strange stuff back then.

A Sapphire/AMD Radeon RX 560 (or variants thereof) seem to be a "PCIe x16 (x8 Mode)" card, meaning that physically it goes in a PCIe x16 slot but electrically only works in x8 Mode like the cards shown here and here..You could also look at the card edge connector (where it fits in the mobo PCIe x16 slot) and see if it's only half populated by 'gold fingers' as some are, which would definately be an x16 (x8 Mode) card as shown in the pic attached below..RX 560 are weird cards and there's prolly nothing wrong.

they probably save a dollar a card by doing that

The majority of our GT 730 cards have x16 lanes but only x8 is necessary. The RX560 is a PCI-E 3.0 card and x8 is more than enough bandwidth for that GPU.

for a low end card like those i can see why, maybe even x4 slot would be enough even.

I have the EVGA 790i FTW  purchase from eBay in 2016 and found that running AMD gpu's have too many complications with proper booting and loading up to Windows. I blame the AMD Drivers.
Also most all new GPU's have UEFI BIOS/ Firmware and not compatible with our non-UEFI BIOS motherboards.
There are Hybrid BIOS - GPU's but they probably are iffy.
I'd stick with nVidia gpu's made before 2013 as they have VGA - Legacy firmware and should function well and to avoid Bottlenecks.
    2 Core Duo / Quads 45nm CPU's  (E8500 or Q9550 or QX9650) are not suitable for todays GPU's.

I recommend that you read  [ bob16314 ] comment as given above since  8 out of 10 he's most likely correct and a  Knowledgeable forum member.

Post Code Display on the eVGA 790i FTW motherboard.
bob16314 of the EVGA Forum commented to me: " It should start the POST code sequence with FF, cycle through various POST codes, and end on FF..Ending on FF is a good thing..We like to say it means 'Fully Functional'..But it's really hexidecimal for 255, the end..All is well..Carry on."
