Hello I have a friend with a 780 who has been running it on Windows 10 for a good while. Yesterday he started getting black screen so he uninstalled the OS and reinstalled and during the reinstall got a message saying the card wasn’t compatible with Windows 10 even after it been running for months. He went ahead with the install and installed drivers a ran 2 firestrike stress test and both passed over 99%. Today he starts it up and starts downloading origin and the black screen happens again.

Does anyone know a fix for this or something else to try this has just happened out of nowhere and he has another 770 that he tested and it doing the black screen also. You don’t even have to be playing a game it will just do it at desktop. He has tried many different drivers and has used DDU to clean them befor install and does a clean install of the driver.

Thanks

Does this issue occur over both the hdmi & display port outputs?

Then it sounds like his monitor may have a problem since the issue occurs with two different video cards.

His on board graphics on motherboard works fine. I thought of this also until he said it’s been working fine with the motherboard graphics. He also installed windows 8.1 and it worked fine with the card but non of the newer drivers will work with windows 8.1 and play bfv

How old is his power supply? Did he attempt to try the card in another pci-e slot?

His psu is about 7 years old and yes he tried a different pcie slot and it wouldn’t recognize either card. I think it something to do with windows and Evga tech said the latest 2 or 3 drivers aren’t compatible with his cards and they told him to turn off windows automatic driver updates but I don’t think he has got to that yet.

The latest driver (417.35) definitely supports the gtx 780. I'd suggest replacing that 7 year old psu. It also sounds like his second pci-e slot has a problem since no cards are recognized in it.

I have the exact same issue with the 780 Classified after latest windows 10 update.  It just all of a sudden stopped working and mobo is not showing its installed.  All lights and fans on the gpu are working.  Tried it on the other pcie slots on the board and still mobo is not showing it as installed.  Onboard gpu works fine, but the 780 classified gets no signal.

I've removed the drivers with the DDU and am totally stuck now as I cant even load any new drivers because gpu isnt being recognized to install them.

Tried installing 331.65 (which came on disc with GPU), 375.7 at the request of many folks online, and even tried 417.35.  All to no avail because im getting the hardware not installed error.

    I have:

    Windows 10
    ASUS Maximus VII Formula mobo
    Intel i7 processor
    8mb ram
    Corsair AX860i psu

Did your friend get this issue resolved?
