Hmm... Burning oil, claims 70k miles, old enough to roll over once, might be 170k miles instead. Ehh... I knew someone a while back that bought a truck JUST like that for about 1500 dollars about 10 years ago. He took it to the shop, had it painted cherry red, got all kinds of work done under the hood to get it working. He had nothing but problems with it, was a money pit and it drank gas like no other... I guess it's all in the eyes of the beholder, but I really don't see that as a steal or a good idea for anyone with a budget.

Not trying to hate on your trucks, just saying it's not a daily driver IMO. Those things average like 8-15MPG depending on how well the upkeep was.

Haha nice. I kinda miss my '77 Chevy C10 stepside, it was pretty sweet. The odometer had rolled over twice showing 60K miles (actually 260K) and still ran like a champ. Old trucks are the best

8-15MPG, depends on ur setup and the way u drive.

I can get 20MPG a custom setup with a 350/351. And some of us like our older trucks, new trucks just suck.......

I'll get some for you, so far we have por 15 the entire frame, seats have been releathered interior has been gutted and por 15.  I'll get some pics up so you can see what is going on.  He works to much so it's slow going but he traded a toyota short bed for it that he paid around 1500 for, all he had to do was paint it and replace a few odds and ends.  The great thing was that the mustang is in great running condition and drives great.

yes they do have wood plank beds (never had a woman complain about being in the back of a chevy with a wood plank bed however they have complained about the rusting noises coming from the fords :D (or maybe it was the smoke and fire from the starter solenoids )

now there's a blast from the past....my first vehicle was a 1968 ford ranger, looks very much the same as the 71. I paid 260 bucks for it in 1983. had 160k on it. had lots of fun in it...wouldn't want another one though.

Hope you find one!  I'd look for one from arizona or california if possible for less chance of rust.

I bought a 73 F-250 4x4 'highboy' for $1700. Southern Cali desert truck, not a spec of rust anywhere. 360FE, NP435,Divorced NP205, D44HD and D60. Only had power brakes...drum brakes front and rear.

Manual steering got pretty old with those larger tires, so I gave the truck a little tune up...

    And even bigger tires

390 crank, rods and pistons, bored .60 over. Edel Alum. heads and intake, Crane energy cam, 1-3/4" Longtube headers, 4" skyjacker soft-ride leaf springs, Dana 60 front and Twinsticked Np205. Added power steering with cross over. Still a WIP but aiming to complete this year. Leaving the body stock and original for a semi sleeper look.  Love being smog exempt.  Someday will add fuel injection.

A few years back I sold My bronco for $600; it was a great truck, but the 12 miles per gallon, and the 33 gallon fuel tank, Just wasn't doing it for me.

lol, you're not familiar with older vehicles are you? They only went to 99,999.9 miles before rolling over to 0. Here is an example from a '57 Chevy...

Not a bad price. I am thinking $1500 is more reasonable...

That model does need a spare Starter in the "Toolbox" and a few other items. Totally worth the effort. Besides... When China attacks us you will need that truck because the EMP's will have no effect on it...

Id love a 60's Chevy truck, but will take a 60-79 Ford Truck too. I wont touch anything Chevy newer than 1985.
