Ubisoft stated that USD $70 will be the new norm for pricing of its AAA game titles going forward. Count this as 16.6% inflation over the $60 ($59.99) that was normal for AAA games a few years ago. Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot, in an interview with Axios, stated that $70 would be considered the default for the publisher's big AAA releases across platforms. This would make $70 the base price for the "Standard Edition." Various premium editions and season passes would be priced higher. NBA 2K21 became the first title with its standard edition priced at $70 in August 2020. Ubisoft will effect the $70 pricing on the upcoming "Skull and Bones," which releases this November.

Inflation is really jacking up prices for everything.

And there's the reason they keep raisin' it slowly......"10 bucks isn't too much"..it's not the 10 bucks, man..it's the 30 dollars over 3 years. No thanks.

2007 cod4 was $60 on console and $50 on pc. that was fifteen years ago, stuff in the world has gone up in price, its time for video games to go up too.

I don't know how many of you grew up in the 80's, but I can clearly remember saving up for Nintendo carts that were $59.99 back in the day.  The thought that 30+ years later and games are pretty much the same price baffles me.

That said,  I'm actually okay shelling out $70 if we're talking about an actual AAA title that is going to get hours/days worth of play time and a good entertainment ROI. It costs about that much to take the wife to see a 2 hour movie (not including dinner).

The question is, can Ubisoft create any AAA titles that people are willing to pay for?  I don't know that rehashing the same old franchises is the best route, but the consumers will be the ultimate judge if Ubisoft's product is worth the price tag.  In a world where publishers put their games on Epic/Steam for free, it may be a hard pill to swallow, so Ubisoft is going to need to up their game if they are serious.

I have mixed feelings since it’s not something physical anymore and we have so many great games on PC. I can play a game I have never played before that is a couple years old for $29 or less. The Steam sales always get me to buy a few games.

At the same time some games I really can’t wait to play and feel I would pay $70 for.

Is there one Ubisoft game worth $70, let alone $60?

Thankfully Epic gives away a lot of Ubisoft's games... I have not bought a Ubisoft title in a long long time. Nor do I plan to probably ever again.

i like to look at the relative price per hour of entertainment and video games have always given the most bang for the buck, even if they were $100 each.  (which many are with the DLC and season stuff)

I've enjoyed several of the Assassins Creed games.  A few of them I played through multiple times.  Certainly got my money's worth.

If the game has 100+ hours of content, I wouldn't mind it. I wouldn't even mind paying $100. Where else do you get that type of entertainment return? An IMAX 2 hour movie is about $10 per hour. Home rental for a 2 hour movie is about $2.50 per hour. A live Comedian can easily go past $50 an hour. Far Cry 6 can get you about $1 per hour if you are a completionist. Ghost Recon comes out to about $0.50 an hour. Atari 2600 games were about $20 in the late 70s/early 80s which puts it at $82 in today's money. I paid $60 for Unreal Tournament 2004 in 2004 which is about $94 today.

    $70 seems perfectly acceptable.

this is exactly my point above.  Dollar:Hour ratio.  video games, even at $100+, are still the most bang for the buck.
