Well I just wanted to post that my 5820k is just starting to degrade. So a little history on my 5820k. It is for the most part a not so good over-clocker. Way back in 2015 when I got it I had to bump the voltage up way high to get it stable where I wanted it. So all the way up till a couple of days ago it was at 4.5ghz core at 1.38v with a 4ghz uncore at 1.3v. Bad part is this can only be achieved with a 24/7 voltage. Ran pretty good keeping it at max 50c at full load and 40c at best in the most demanding games. Now the best I can do is 4.3ghz at 1.38v. So my system is now definitely stating to see effects of a 24/7 max voltage. But to be honest I am surprised it has lasted this long. How is everyone's 5820k and up doing on your over-clocks these days?

Don't know how good it is still doing, but I had a 5820 in my test bench for years, mostly ran it at 4, put stupid amouts of voltage into it for 4.4 and 4.6, at 4.7 it ran into thermal issues.  It was on probably 6 different boards from early engineering samples, to a classified that it ran most of its time on, infact that was the CPU that was in all of my X99 manuals for those few pics that had processor info.
The one I had from 2014 to 2017 ran like a champ in spite of doing terrible things to it.

What exactly is it doing now when you try and use it at 4.5?

it is running into random errors and bsod. Cant pass stress tests anymore. So as far as i can tell from my testing I am stuck with less now. My real issue is I do a lot of multi tasking and would benefit from more cpu cores. So I am just trying to figure out if I am going to wait till the next x cpus to come out or just go for 7940x. I feel like the 7940x is a better buy after deluding than a 9940. Also the performance core for core when clocked the same is not worth dealing with some of the issues of the newer cpus.

That chart that was release is a sham. AMDs next offering may be as good as the last couple, but that chart that was put out is nothing but a lie.

    Could be,
I would still wait a few months. We will get more info in January.
