Thank you.  I just need to figure out all this wallet stuff and waiting for being able to trade.  We only have 3 exchanges available in Canada and getting authorized is a real pain.  You need BTC to do anything, but you can't get authorized to get BTC, the cycle is endless.  I think I can take my cure and move it to one of the exchanges and sell it, right?  Then I can get some btc and move it to my counter wallet, correct?  Yes I have no clue what it is I'm doing and all the instructions are as clear as an IRS tax form.  I'm on coinbase, polo and gemini.

If you like answering questions, I may take your like and turn it into a hate haha.  I'm sorry if I do!

ah, this isnt that complicated. anyone anywhere can use poloniex/bittrex as an exchange to take their FLDC and CURE and turn that into BTC. once you have the BTC you can ether move it to your personal wallet or leave it in the exchange if you are going to try and re-invest it. once you have BTC in your personal wallet you can ether buy stuff with it or go to another exchange that can take the BTC and turn it into cash. this exchange is the highly regulated one and where things get complicated trying to get registered and all that fun stuff. that is also why i advised to try and use the BTC as BTC and not trying to cash out.

I would love to buy stuff, but since I live in Canada..well buying from American stores with bitcoin is impossible.  Since newegg changed their policies my account there has become useless, and I used to buy a lot from their American site.  This will be interesting once I can wrap my head around it all.  Thank you for all the information and the push :)

oh, so you are even having a hard time finding places that accept btc as payment in Canada? i would have thought that if they used bitpay on their site they would be able to use it in all regions not just the states...

Turns out newegg Canada does accept bitcoin.  So with my dollar being so low in value, this could be interesting.

And @NxtgenCowboy livecoin does have CURE.  Apparently they're the 4th largest exchange on the planet?

live coin does have CURE but they have very low volumes of CURE trades. Bittrex is currently the more popular CURE exchange.

and awesome about newegg! i knew they should accept btc in Canada too.

CURE just broke 130% for today, over 3x what it was a month ago.

Unfortunately, CURE still has not recovered entirely from the high it reached the day before Poloniex announced they were delisting CURE.

It's recovered about half of the "bottom" it hit right after that though, and since Bitcoin has gone up a good bit in that timeframe CURE is getting close to the same $ per coin value it had right before the delisting.
It's VERY wierd though having to keep in mind the FDLC offers over twice the income now, though - used to be the other way around.

I DROPPED Poloniex over the past week because of repeated major issues, some of them probably due to the growth in size of that exchange but they are not DEALING with that growth at all well if so.
I recommend Bittrex over Poloniex, even though I'm not particularly fond of Bittrex.

The "other" coins that get distributed with FLDC are pretty much a waste, unless you use them directly - trying to cash them out of Counterparty usually ends up costing more in Bitcoin than the "other coins" are WORTH once you get them to something you can sell. I wouldn't change the _ALL_ though if it's already set up, the situation MIGHT change eventually.

Now that vorsholk has stopped his abuse, I'm returning to folding.
I no longer MOO due to abuses by certain "whales" in the Gridcoin community - so I now work the Distributed.net project directly again.

i know its very awkward to think that CURE has fell soo far to FLDC. but do keep in mind that the recent rise is USD price is the rise in BTC and not the rise of CURE. CURE has practically flat lined sense the fall and only in the last few days has seen any real movement anywhere.

It's really irritating as I HATE that ripoff Counterparty junk that FLDC moved to for their distribution.
Painfull wallet to use, very little ability to figure out WHAT it is doing, crazy-slow, and they charge you WAY EXCESSIVE AMOUNTS for the whole process.

I'd hate to be a SMALL FLDC folder, they might very well LOST money getting their FLDC out of that bloody Counterparty wallet to where they CAN sell it.

On the up side, I just ordered the parts for my next 3-card folding rig yesterday.
Technically I'll be shifting my existing 1080 to it out of a single-card rig, but that will clear a slot for one of my EVGA 1070s to go into that's just been sitting around unused since I GOT that 1080 early this month.
I still won't be any threat to Ed Okkola but I'm slowly getting there.
First time I've built an Intel rig since the VERY EARLY Pentium 4 days - and THAT rig was the first Intel rig I'd built since the days of the P75/P90/P100.
Unfortunately, getting PCI-E 3 on AMD is too expensive at this point, Ryzen needs to get some lower-end stuff in the market as that's the only AMD platform that supports PCI-E 3 and the current stuff is just too pricy.

Now that vorsholk has stopped his abuse, I'm returning to folding.

Online, yes.  Personal, no, I think.  I myself haven't wrapped my head around a personal wallet yet as I am afraid of having my SSD die and losing all the coin in it.  Still trying to understand all this.

They charge a service fee if you want to withdraw funds, which when compared to other simular services is quite high. So its not like a subscription as you only get a fee when you want to move funds.

Becuase of this i created a new folding account with my exchange wallet address. Worked great so far, only two transactions though.

Hmmm, didn't realise FLDC could be done with an exchange wallet.
Might be time to change my user ID again (drat it, was getting close to 300 on all-time list with the current one).

Most wallets are on your own machine, and you only get charged the usual "transfer fee" when you send some coin out of one that is charged by the cryptocoin network itself for that coin type.

Counterparty however is built as an online "service" and wallet on top of the Bitcoin blockchain, and charges a TON to use their service and wallet in transfer fees that are WAY higher than the actual Bitcoin transfer fees for a given transfer.

(edit) and now I am http://folding.extremeoverclocking.com/user_summary.php?s=&u=732658 thanks to the comment immediately above.

I wonder how long my last account will hang around in the Folding Top 500 now that it's not active.
I wish Folding would give you the option to roll your points together into one account (think I may have mentioned that before).

After looking through the stats database, it looks like I tried to set this up 2 times before (which I DO have some vague recollection of) - only to be foiled by my extreme fluency in Tyop.
Hopefully it will work correctly THIS time.

Since FLDC is only paid out on a once a month basis, I'd not expect a huge number of transactions - and it makes the "testing" time VERY VERY long.

FLDC just peaked at 800 only 20 points from their all time high of 820 during their unreasonable pump of %1200 last year. why are these things tend to be a few days before the next distro?

I thought it distributed on Saturday? I was really hoping to cash in on this high, but my luck it will take all week to get from my tokenly to an exchange anyway

you are right... i too earned exactly the same as last month... and i was not folding for about the last 10 days of the month.... something is NOT right with this distro.

EDIT: looked at their twitter and they have redistributed last months. so they are now funding people the difference out of the Dev's wallets. i assume then that people who folded non at all last month just earned free coin... i do not know what their plan there is, but polo has disabled the wallets so you can not spend them.

Distro happens at midnight Eastern STANDARD Time - for this month Today.

I found it interesting that the FDLC non-profit registration is in Noblesville IN - that's less than 30 miles from where I grew up (it's an outer suburb of Indianapolis to the north-north-east and the County Seat for Hamilton County which is the county just north of Marion County that Indy is mostly in).

The reason the spikes DIE when distribution happens is the massive SELL pressure from most miners trying to get their money out of the distro.

*IF* you can afford to wait a week or two, you can usually catch the next spike (there is at least a small spike almost every month mid-to-late in the month).

Same thing used to happen to CureCoin, but it's gotten chaotic since the Polo delisting.

Now that vorsholk has stopped his abuse, I'm returning to folding.
I no longer MOO due to abuses by certain "whales" in the Gridcoin community - so I now work the Distributed.net project directly again.

Don't forget that more and more people have joined the team since last month.  Last month the team was doing 200m ppd and now the team is doing well over 320m ppd.  The more people who join, the less coins we get.  Need to produce more to get more.

you should have waited for the second one to arrive before sending funds, ~0.0022 was my fee (~$5.25). also i was able to send my monthly fldc earnings to bittrex in under 30 minutes. i was VERY surprised. if it wasn't for the redistro of last month my counterparty wallet would not have received any coins this month.

Yeah except I started it before I saw your post :(
I tried to transfer from tonkenly chrome extension and that didn't work, now they are in limbo, it's best to just use one of their servers through a real web browser-not the FLDC browser

I think it was more like 2 months back that CureCoin was in the 200M ballpark, but yeah we've been growing.

That's why I've been trying to find a place with more power for months - I needed the ability to grow.

Took a hit like everyone from the *.105 borked server issue but that seems to be mostly past now (or worked around).
