What was scary was the FLDC spike - a day or two AFTER the distribution, for the first time I can remember.

Once I get settled into this place more, I've got plans for probably 2 more new rigs + parts on hand I've not had TIME to get them build up for a 3'd....

Now that vorsholk has stopped his abuse, I'm returning to folding.
I no longer MOO due to abuses by certain "whales" in the Gridcoin community - so I now work the Distributed.net project directly again.

Yes.  I am wondering if I should start holding onto my coins or not.  I'be been using them to fund my ETH holdings which has been insanely profitable.  I need to start putting money back into my rig though so I can make more money and be comfortable.

I'm figuring now is the time to get the rigs built up - then when the shakeout comes, I should be in good shape with my low cost power, as I'll still be profitable when a lot of others aren't.
I'd guess that worst case profitability will drop to around where I saw it before I moved last summer - but I'll have more rigs to work with so the net income should be a bit higher.
This spring and summer so far are reminding me a lot of late 2013 and early 2014 - and the great "Litecoin craze/crash/move-to-X11/crashed profitability there due to overload" times.

But with more options, and Nvidia gets to be a player this time around.

right now folding for me is 98% profit, only counting electricity as cost @ $0.125 per KWh. 6 months ago it was 89%. for it to become not profitable BTC will have to fall below $800 and CURE/FLDC will have to half in value. the profitability in folding is much more resistant primarily because you earn two coins for the same work and FLDC has such a high barrier of entry with its monthly payout. now of course your exact points to where you stop being profitable will vary greatly if you have to add rent, cheap/expensive electricity, and/or other cost factors.

It's still difficult especially with all these "whales" coming on board.  When I had both cards working back in May, I was making 28-33 cure coins a day.  Now that "difficulty" has ramped up so much due to team production, I am lucky if I make 18-20 cure coins per day.  To get to the same level as I was in May, I need to add 2 more 1080's or a 1080ti.

I'll know it's time to move when nicehash.com is more profitable haha.

a 1080ti and a 1070 earned 26 CURE at a difficulty of 440 Million PPD yesterday. this is most certainly one of those times where those with money earn lots of money but those without much earn something as its all % based returns on investments.

Yeah and with all the miners buying out 1060 and 1070 cards...There was a 1060 listed in the B stock store..for 10 minutes! haha.  It's going to be difficult to get ahead in the next little while.   Let's hope all this greed gets some awesome cures eh?

Re: 5-6 month Highs for GRC, FLDC, & CURE 2017/06/21 02:07:34 (permalink)
I've got a bit more than "2" cards folding - with the price runup on FLDC and to a much lesser degree CURE trying to recover to pre-delist pricing, it's noticeably MORE profitable than any other alternative I can put the cards to and has been that way for the last month, and close for most of the last 2-3 months.

I'm earning a bit over half what I was 3 months ago in number of CURE, despite adding a couple rigs in the meantime - but the value has gone up a LOT, to the point that I'm pulled in more from FLDC last month on about 20 days of folding than I did from ALL of my other cryptocoin income combined.

Unfortunately, it's obvious quite a few other folks have also realised how profitable FLDC+CURE is right now given the rapid increase in Team Curecoin production over the last 2-3 months.
We didn't used to DOUBLE our PPD every 2-3 months.....

Up side for us folders - miners don't generally like the 1080 or 1080ti, as there are only a few coins they are good on and all of those coins are a LOT smaller on network hashrate than ETH is as well as being smaller on market cap. It's mildly amusing to see the miners pushing 1070 prices up into and even PAST pricing for some 1080 models - just makes my choice easier on which way to go.

Hmmm.

Come to think about it, if pricing on the 1070s keeps climbing, perhaps I should sell mine to finance moving up to 1080 or even some 1080ti.....

*ponders a new path - hybrid 1080 ti for the first 2 slots and an Aorus for the third slot on my 3-card rigs .... nah, bit marginal on the existing 850 watt PS, gotta stick with a 1080 or 2 for the "upgrade" rigs, and move to a 1000+ for new rigs. I do still have a G2 1300 and a X1250 floating.....*

Hmmm, nope, won't fit into my power infrastructure. Guess I'll stick with 1080s at least mostly.

Now that vorsholk has stopped his abuse, I'm returning to folding.

OMG! i did not know the 1070's were in that same boat as the AMD cards.... you can not even buy one a used one ebay for under $400! that is just crazy! welp, i know what i will be doing once i get off work today. my 5x 1070's will be sold by the 1st. and then replace them with 1080ti's when the next FLDC payout comes in.

FLDC just EXPLODED past the 0.00001 barrier with a high of 0.00001451! FLDC is such a HOT coin right now.

p.s. and the sad part of this is that i have over 200k FLDC in limbo till Poloniex can get to my ticket and transfer funds from the deposit address to my account so i can trade them...

I thought they fixed their FLDC wallet? You will be a rich man when you can cash that in.
When I checked earlier today, it looked like HUGE pump and dump spikes.
The price is kinda irrelevant to me until next Saturday :/
Hopefully it stays expensive but not enough for people to try and start mining it!

It ALWAYS spikes the week before payout.  At least for the last 2 months.  Makes me think this time I will hold onto my coins and wait..though I need the money, sadly.

they fixed the withdraw function for FLDC but if you try and deposit any the funds will be sent to your exchange wallet but polo never pulled those funds into their main wallet and credited my account.

FLDC has a tendancy to spike mid-to-late month most months.
The spike a couple days back on Bittrex was insane though - 6820 satoshi for a very short time, on some serious volume.
Very quickly dropped back under 2000, and been drifting mostly down since then, but it's still over 1100 as of a few minutes ago.

Yeah I may have to hold on to my pay out until mid-late July.  Even at less than half the market value what my machines produce would still be profitable but why waste the potential.  It's all going into some new hardware for some dedicated machines so I can get my main rig back and start working on other projects.

I'm not sure about this payout, with Youngblood and Curefor_all ramping up so much, its gonna be hard to get by with anything under several folding rigs... Good for yall though, I hope we see some real results from Stanford soon

There was a time I had 3% of the production of Team Curecoin - on a high single-digit number of cards.
Now with 18 cards folding (though a couple are handicapped by bad infrastructure for the moment) I'm struggling to get back to 2%.

Thank goodness the value of each coin has gone up a TON over the last couple months - smaller piece of a MUCH more valuable pie is still nice.

ya, if you wanted to keep the same FLDC/CURE per month income you would have had to double production sense April.

Yeah this is insane.  Hoping i make enough this month to afford a 1080ti as it's the only real option going forward.  2x1080's is just not cutting it anymore.  I figure at the rate everything is increasing, by August the team will be at over 700 million points per day.  It's highly possible that FLDC and Cure might pass ETH in value overall for "hash" rate.  If everyone with mining rigs was folding, they would be making a killing.  I'm glad their staying away atm haha.

So what's the BEST exchange to sell on?  Is Polo still having "issues" with their FLDC?  I've had no problems on Bittrex as of late.

polo i think just yesterday FINALLY fixed their FLDC deposits. but Bittrex is now my go to when it come to exchanging my coins primarily because my polo support ticket has gone 26 days without response! that is just purely STUPID! i can understand growing pains but not being able to respond to open tickets in less than a month is completely unreasonable and makes the site, for me, completely unreliable. so if i were you and you are still using polo i would slowly and carefully move your funds away from that powder keg as it can blow up big time for more than one reason.

also as to the folding potential of AMD's miners, its not as high as you think. primarly because 90% of them use pcie 3.0 x1 over USB... that will not cut it for optimal folding potential. that and AMD has always had poor performance per watt without this limitation.

Well a lot of miners are using 1070's and 1060's now as well, as they can get lower power settings and higher hash rates than AMD cards.  So we have a tonne of people out there with rigs of 6 1070's.  True they will be on 1x risers, I just have no idea what the data performance would be like.  IF I had a setup myself I would test it.  Thankfully I do not have something that crazy.

And on a sad note, newegg Canada has stopped accepting bitcoin :( so I might need to either do coincards or buy from newegg.com and pay duty..shudder haha.  I wish amazon would hurry up and accept bitcoin already!

At current rate of increase, 700M PPD for the team will be somewhere in mid-July or so - and might see 800M PPD around the end of July, but more likely early-to-mid August.

Up side for the miners - Newegg already has listings for 2 of the Sapphire "mining-specific" RX470 cards, so small miners WILL be able to get at least some of that stuff which should help take SOME of the pressure off of GTX 1070 cards.

Seems like the GTX 1080 is seeing some pressure too - I notice EVGA is out of most of the models, and pricing on Newegg is sliding up a little.
1080 ti seems to be unaffected so far, for the most part. Very few "out of stock" and pricing in the same ballpark as 2 months back.

FLDC has slid back down to a little lower than before the spike and a bit lower than it's peaks LAST month, but this time of month it USUALLY starts sliding - have to see where it's at by mid-July.

Now that vorsholk has stopped his abuse, I'm returning to folding.

At this point I am wondering if I should ask EVGA if i can change my folding name to my FLDC name so that I don't lose out on FLDC coins, like youngblood did?  Or am I just able to change it in my profile with no hassles?  I don't mind missing cure for a few days, but missing FLDC is a huge loss in payment.  I need it so I can get more cards so we can cure cancer!

Btw anyone know how to mint cure?  I would say feel free to start a new topic on it.

To my knowlage, there are 3 ways to generate CURE.

 1) Fold while on team CureCoin.
 2) Stake CURE with the Curecoin wallet.
 3) Mine Cure with a SHA256 miner.

I've never done 2 or 3 so I don't know the actual details on those, but I think the SHA256 option might require you to mine to a specific pool.
