THE FIRST 3D PRINTED ROCKETRelativity is scheduled for its second launch of Terran 1, called " GLHF" (Good Luck, Have Fun), from Launch Complex 16 in Cape Canaveral, Florida . Our launch window opens at 1300ET on March 11th, 2023. This launch of Terran 1 by Relativity will not include a customer payload. As a two-stage, 110ft. tall, 7.5 ft. wide, expendable rocket, Terran 1 is the largest 3D printed object to exist and to attempt orbital flight. Working towards its goal of being 95% 3D printed, Relativity’s first Terran 1 vehicle is 85% 3D printed by mass. Terran 1 has nine Aeon engines on its first stage, and one Aeon Vac on its second stage. Like its structure, all Relativity engines are 3D printed, and use liquid oxygen (LOX) and liquid natural gas (LNG), which are not only the best for rocket propulsion, but also for reusability, and the easiest to eventually transition to methane on Mars. https://www.relativityspace.com/ I thought this was very interesting. I hope they are successful.

That is interesting since 3d printing could help in some ways with heat shielding.

00:06:00 and counting 00:04:00 UNDER 46 seconds .. launch scrubbed .. launch window closed .... so 2nd try starting countdown from 45 min was a bad idea by less than 1 min Um, the math is kind of simple - current time + 45 min = launch window violation ..... I'm starting to wonder about those rocket scientist type - How did they miss this will not fly (pun) ..

That is sooo stupid. Start a 45 minute countdown and not one person checks and realizes that the permitted launch window ends in 44 minutes. Wonder how many millions of dollars that mistake cost them.

BTW, NASA's SpaceX Crew-5 astronauts splash down off the coast of Tampa, FL, in about 30 minutes from now, just after 9pm eastern. https://www.twitch.tv/nasa

notfordman Third try they got it launched, around 1:20. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bzA0lIwh19c
Unfortunately, the second stage rocket didn't engage for a failure. Hopefully they can get that fixed since it's interesting that it's 3d printed.

I assume more attempts will be made until they get it right.

Just saw that but regardless, I would call it a success for how far they've gone. Is every single inch of that rocket 3D printed? Not just body but gear, etc.? Sorry, don't have time to watch the full length of that video but if someone did, let me know.
