don't know how your case is set up, but i get great airflow (6) 120 fans in the front & (1) 120 + (1) Noctua 80 fan in the back it's like a wind tunnel in there, keeps all the hot air pouring out the back card stays between 58c & 64c when gaming you can see temps in my video very happy with it

akindabigdeal My 3090 ftw Ultra died last night :(. Out of the blue. I saw the LED's go off then my screen went black. It was nice while I had it (2 days) guess it's back to the trusty 1080ti for now.....
Man I feel your pain... you only had 2 days LOL I had 8 days. But same thing black screen, except I didn't see the LEDs go off.
I am beginning day 8 today on my 3090 FTW3 Ultra. Have been gaming heavily on it every day. Keeping fingers crossed. I did purchase the next day air Advanced RMA to have just in cases.
Nice, glad your card is hanging in there mate. I am on day 7 without a card :( still waiting for my replacement. Bit frustrating, but what can I do, but wait.

Another data point, 30/31 day old card, playing MCC (reach) dead, same problems. Using new RM850X with cable mod extensions. Temp was 60-70 per PX1 before dying. Crashed the same way (trying to access menu by pressing escape in reach) about 5 times before dying for good. No overclock.

So a month old card and died, sad, very sad. Something is deteriorating fast for these cards to fail out of the blue.

Another card lost to MCC. I think you're ninth person on these forums to lose a 30x series card to that game.

How is that possible for the game to wreck the card, unless the card has already potential to go south. Yes demanding games might put your card to its knees, but card should have protection on its own. So that means, every time, either new bad drivers or new bad game come out you be worrying if your card would handle it, that is just absurd

I know, it is absurd. Especially since these cards eat games like MCC for breakfast. But I saw that game claim 2 cards in one night. I believe that they would have failed somewhere at some point, but now I'm too scared to play MCC, hell I just worry about this card all the time now. There is something fragile about these things and without any communication we have no idea what it is. I'm on my 3rd card now and now I've stopped overclocking and running precision which bums me out a lot, but since Thanksgiving is next week, I'd like to get passed the long weekend with a working card. I've got 1 more RMA in me since I already bought the EAR. After that it's time to fight for a refund and hunt for the Strix or something, even if I need to pay the restocking fee. It's rare I've been burned on a product this badly before.

I own RTX 3090 FTW3 ultra for a week now, whatever games I play it crashed. The Hunter call of the wild, CSGO, Fifa21, Death Stranding. Just constantly crash, my RTX 2080 Super only crashed once. What else can I do?

There is definitely 100% something wrong with these cards. Again, no game should brake any card, It might not play, but shouldn't kill it. My nephew plays that game on his new card ever since he got it about 2 weeks now, not a single hick up, it will either play or it wont.

iirc your nephew is on his 3rd card like me? It gives me a bit of hope that things have been going better for him. Been putting some serious miles on my new card in Cold War, which is a pretty demanding game and it's been rock solid stable so far. 12 days of use without issue which is also my high score. If I make it passed Thanksgiving I'll start playing around with the clocks and see what I can do and if it survives.

I can't wait to play COD, this was the game my graphics card crashed on and then didn't go again. I am not suggesting this particular game killed my card, just that I was really looking forward to playing it and on release I started the game up only to see light blue boxes, CTD then blackness which my GPU never recovered from.

Reason I was asking because you might or might not get lucky and get OK card, game alone shouldn't kill the card, the card itself have to be seriously defective to begin with.

So how many working cards are out in the wild? reading the Bios thread, looks like maybew the Taiwanese boards are the bad ones and the Chinese ones are working. Both the ones I had gotten were Taiwanese and were defective. Like I said before, I had heard good things about evga but with my 2 defective 3090 ultras, the youtubers waiting for a response from evga, forum and reddit posts of defective 3090s, I don't think evga is the same company that people talk about with the 20 series and before. Sad that I fell for the good word of mouth, I usually go MSi or Gigabyter. I've never had ASUS before

How does he like the Strix compared to the FTW3? I have a Strix in the box and decided to wait to see if I could score a Kingpin and I did manage to get on the list. Not sure what to do now with all these stories. I know the KPE is a custom PCB and the card must be run through it's paces. I'm just a little worried about these 3090 issues transferring over to the Kingpin. That would be horrible as they are limited and an RMA could be a PITA. Granted I would take dealing with an EVGA RMA over an ASUS RMA any day.

I have been buying EVGA cards for as long as I can remember, but I'm going to be absolutely honest, this time around after having one died on me and my nephew had 3 of them died on him, spending that much $! I am convinced I might not look at EVGA cards for a long while. I can see EVGA skim pout on some things with their cards, what’s making worse, no explanation to why so many issues. A week ago I got second 3090 Strix and nephew got one about 2 weeks ago and not a single issue and I don't think any Strix owner so far had any of them died as far I know, so yes I can say, I really like Strix, Its built like a tank and performs great. Mine and my nephews cards on Q-Mode boosts to over 2000MHz on air.

AWK16 Are there any owners of 3090 FTW Ultra that have that card for a while now without issues e.g. "red light of death" how is the card holding on what do you guys think of the single red light issue is it coincident, defect or something else. Should I worry about getting 3090FTW and the same single red light of death? Please give some advice
Mine is currently +600 Mem +100 Core no issues had it since day one.
Sorry to hear this. I have two.ftw3 ultras and both play cod cold War right now at 2k to 2100 Mhz on my amd and intel setups. I am not trying to minimize your experience in any way, just illustratig that it is not all of the cards.

Mine better not. $1800 and two months of waiting for a dead card will entail much screaming.

I get you. There are few users on here that are happy with their 3080/3090 cards since the launch day, so undoubtedly there are some OK cards and bless the once that are still running good. Unfortunately, after my own bad experience and so many others that are still left with a bad taste in their mouth I'm just not convinced I will navigate towards EVGA again. EVGA still didn't explain why and if anything is done about their strange issues, the only thing comes to mind cheep components and I'm not talking MLCC's I'm talking about chokes, capacitors, and mosfets and for top notch FTW! That should have nothing, but all the best specially with the price tag.

Had my RTX3090 FTW3 Ultra Gaming running for a week in a vertical mount using the just released EK vertical holder housed in a Phanteks Enthoo 719 (Luxe 2). From the outset, I was getting bouts of flickering and random 1~2 seconds of blanking (at the desktop or in game) plus it was failing to give a display in the BIOS two out of five times. Bought a new Ivanky 1.4 DP cable to see if the old DP cable was the problem and this fixed my issues. I was using a certified StarTech 1.2 DP cable without an issue with SLI'ed 1080TI's for the past 15 months so maybe the 3090 is pushing the 1.2 cable past its limits or it simply degraded over time.

Hey all, I received my replacement GPU yesterday. The price had changed and they tried to charge me the extra cost, I was like umm no that's illegal this is an RMA!!. They basically credited me for the dead card, and the credit I used for the replacement, but price went up since. She checked with her manager and got it sorted but I was pretty frustrated!!! but kept my cool. Anyways, I light gamed yesterday and a tiny bit today. So far so good but its early days. I also invested in a GPU holder to stop it from sagging which has helped heaps. Fingers crossed for me guys because this upgrade has been a frustrating one!!!
