Unfortunately there isn't much we can do and I bet the 3090 launch will be worse. Bots reign supreme with this awful launch. The only way to guarantee you'll get a card is to wait outside a Microcenter and be one of the first 10 people in line.

Yep I was pretty excited about a 3090 FTW3 from EVGA, now I hold hardly any hope at all.
Oh I will try, but pretty sure I will not be able to get one.
Scalpers reign supreme. And I would not pay one 10 dollars over the retail price for a card from those losers.

I doubt we’ll see anything like we saw today with regards to the 3090’s. Mainly due to the obscene price tag. Not as many people will be wanting to spend that much

Good luck with that. There were hundreds of people waiting in line in some Microcenters and they only had about 10-12 cards.

At this point in the wonderful world of quarantines, I really just want a valid excuse to drive somewhere far away so I still might do it.

In this horrible world of hundreds of thousands dead, this is still not a valid excuse. It is however, an amazing way to spread or infect a community.

EVGA had a very successful day, selling out all their 3080s. However, 95% of the people on this forum attempting to get a gpu were left empty handed and angered. The next 95% of people on this board looking for a 3090 will again be dissapointed next Thursday.

To the credit of the moderators on this board, they don't have much say or push on anything that can fix this situation (I presume). We all simply have to accept paper launches from here on out. I can guarantee you the Hopper release will be the same boat, along with any other future release. Can we all just take solace knowing we will be enjoying these cards in 2021? Anyone? No one? *crickets*

Pre orders + Lottery system is the only way to ensure any kind of fairness for when Nvidia only has 500 total cards for all of NA on launch.

You know what really is annoying though? I'd be fine ordering whatever version card I wanted, even if I knew it was backordered 4-6 weeks. Why on earth has basic commerce been ignored here?

People do this every flippin' day. Find product, see what delivery time is, accept terms, order it. In the rush to get that botter money, they're burning good will hard..
For example:

Me: Hello, I would like to buy one 3090 FTW, and throw in the 10 year warranty.
Store: Hello, it's $1599. The item is popular so it potentially will be on backorder, but you are X position in the list and your place will be confirmed at checkout or will expire within 15 minutes. The item will ship within 2-6 weeks.
Me: Here's my payment info to process my payment. Thank you, I'll be eagerly awaiting it.
Store: Thank you, have a good day.

Fin.

It's not rocket surgery.

There are EVGA employees that are active/monitor the forums though, one would hope that they see the common complaints and those get kicked up the chain, whether anything becomes of them is a whole other issue though. If Nvidia doesn't have some kind of limit on allowing reservations on out of stock items or the like, you'd hope some retailers would allow it.

People are buying 3080's on ebay for multiples of the retail price. The 3090 will be the same story. Scalpers/bots will buy all the stock by 6:00:01 AM while all the websites crash, and before you even realize you can't get one, Ebay will be flooded with $3k+ sales of the 3090.

Nvidia guaranteed this when they disallowed pre-orders.

Oh God...can we PLEASE just stay on topic and not turn this into a doomer forum? If people want to go out and get a card that is their business and they don't need you turning it into a decision between life and death. I come to these forums to escape the never ending hysteria and lunacy that exists in the world, so can we just keep it to talking about video cards, releases, how we can get our hands on one, and keep your personal opinions on world events to yourself? Thanks.

Preorders don't stop bots, there need to be actual systems in place for that. Doubt there will be any changes for the 3090 launch next week.

Yeah as bad as I want a new 3090 by EVGA, I am not very hopeful.
And I will never pay a scalper.

Fun fact, the last digit in the name of each 30 series card represents the number that will be in stock on day 1.

Bots just bought out almost the entire launch day stock.. That's not bad for them. No warranty coverage for most of those sales, and plenty of folks like us that are still going to buy from them as soon as we can.. I hate it, but I know I'm snagging teh first 3090 FTW I can.  I want to see RDR2 as maxed as possible in 4k60.

Fun fact, the last digit in the name of each 30 series card represents the number that will be in stock on day 1.

And the first digit represents how many each scalper will get?

I'd love an option to queue my order... basically preorder the 3090.

Sir... we're gonna need you to unravel... there's no room for rational logic during these times of panic... please rip your shirt off and streak the quad...
