Besides New World, this game also had a tendency to fry 3000 cards... My card has been running great but it does have that slight power load balancing issue.

Can't speak for rev 0.1, but I have a rev 1.0 and played for a couple hours today without issue (just bought it).  That said though, it's not much to go on and I lock my FPS to 117 in all games to invoke gsync for my monitor at 120hz (Predator x38p) and also limit background fps to 30.

“Red lips” tells us that a piece of plastic is red. Nothing more. Don’t say red lips, say what revision number shows on the pci bracket that plugs into the motherboard.

Believe it or not, every revision of card can had a red piece of plastic on it, meaning nothing when used as the example of what card you own.

As for the game, if there was a problem, Google and Reddit would have already told you.

Hey, if you have want a useful answer, provide useful information that people can actually help with. I’m not here to be “delightful”. You referenced a piece of plastic, but still haven’t said what revision your GPU is, only one of those two things is definitive as to what changes have been made to the PCB. I promise the piece of plastic screwed to a piece of metal screwed to the PCB isn’t the useful part to look at.

Sorry, didn't know red lips were on any v1.0 PCBs  so that's interesting in and of itself and good to know that is definitely a thing. Anyways I'm a v0.1.

My 3090 is black lips, rev 0.1, I bought it not long after release and halo black screens my PC. I'm putting in an RMA and requesting a REV 1.0 board from 2021. As this uses a hardware solution, not the failing software one. I tried to play Halo twice and it blacked screened twice (did not know this was an issue with older games) I'm lucky my card did not fry, everything works fine though. I'm afraid to place certain games now... and that's not cool on a $2000 card. So, RMA it is. Even then, I think I will power limit when playing halo and also set nvidia control panel to max 144fps for all games, so menus don't go to 1000fps.

Everything I have seen online has been Black Screen issues with Halo, but not issues with the video card specifically that is causing a hardware failure. All of the posts and articles I could find were old, and haven’t seen anything as of recent about the black screen issue with MCC.

If your card is giving you issues, please do RMA it.

Do the issues you see cause the system to black screen and fans to ramp to 100%. The only way out is to hard shutdown the PC for me. Halo plays on my 3090 for a few minutes, and lights out. I'm not sure if this is my GPU or not... I've only tried it twice but I can't seem to pinpoint anything else but the GPU, since it does black screen, and sometimes artifacts (only after Halo crashed it) a few red and green spots at reboot, they do not reappear after another boot. Card has not died, I can still play AAA games, and timespy score is still the same, temps are fine. Im deadly afraid to boot that game. I'm talking to EVGA now, I'm requesting a REV 1 board myself.

Good luck on getting a 1.0 board. I was flat out refused. My rma replace arrives on Thursday and it’s a 0.1. If games still crash once I do yet another windows reinstall and install the new card I am going to rma again. This time no cross ship.. I will just do without.

It's just as safe to play now as it was a year ago. If your card has a defect, it might fry. If not, it should work fine. There's really no way of knowing ahead of time.
In my opinion, kill all the bad cards early to get it over with. No sense limping a bad card through its entire warranty period. Or, if you don't want to hassle with the potential RMA and shipping expense, sell the GPU.

not so sure that would be any better im sitting on my second bad 1.0 decided to just tuff itt out and return it in about 6 months.i refuse to be thrown into
the vicious RMA circle people are getting thrown into.by what i consider a defective line of cards.and for me its 70.00 a pop for shipping.maybe by then
the mass inflow of these defective cards will lessen and i can get something decent.
the fact that EVGA is knowingly charging its customers for thier mistakes is a horrendously bad buisness practice.

I read his post very differently. I don't think there's any issue with bringing a question here, but he's right on a few points. First, "red lips" is not the same as rev 0.1 vs 1.0. The second is that if this is an actual issue that people know about then it's out there being discussed. It's not like it takes the question being asked a year later on the EVGA forum for people who have been silently sitting on the info to come forward and expose the issue now.

Lots of cards fail however it appears to be a bigger issue for Nvidia and for evga. Honestly, knowing what I know now I wish I had gotten a founders edition 3090.

    They are not blowing up.

    Too late now.

I personally would try the game and see if it crashes. I haven’t really been reading about cards dying playing it. New World did kill some cards and made a pretty widespread story about it. I personally trust EVGA RMA team to take care of me if my 3080 dies under warranty so I am not that worried with what I run.

i dont know if you have one of these cards but if you have its pure frustration ive tried and tested everything out there.with my zotac 3080 it was plug and play
maybe turn vsync or gsync on or off that was the extent of it.since i put in both these 3090 it has been a constant trial and error.DDU,random driver installs, reinstalling
windows, monitor RMA'd (not it by the way and was not charged thxs Asus) unistalling apps in case of incombatability, msi afterburner, precision x,anti viruses and all the
other crazy things out there.ive spent months with trouble shooting this card and im sure many others have as well.thru no fault of mine.and its so random as to what
and how these card runs theres nothing we can do other than accept defeat.im at a complete loss and EVGA help does not connect you with a actual tech just some random
person who basically reads a script as how to trouble shoot.i constantly comb these forums in hopes of a answer to this some day.and seeing as of the second card the issue
is much less than it was my conclusion is its the card and my problems are with the construction/assembly/software or driver of the 3090 and until EVGA ponies up and
admits the issues we're all having is on thier end.we all remain in limbo.so in light of all this im not RMAing this card and sitting on it in hopes something will change.
so theres no doubt in my mind hes already been there and done that.i know i sure as heck have !!! so asking the question again somewhere else in hopes of an answer
i can only say i wish i had the answer.

He might be "correct", but he was also rude, especially for a moderator.

There is a difference between rude and direct. You may not understand that, but the OP seemingly did since the OP answered the question after stating that they didn’t realize that what I had said was correct.

Again, not here to be delightful. You have now made two posts in this thread, about how I was direct, yet haven’t even attempted to contribute any assistance or clarification for the OP’s question. Is it considered rude to attempt to hijack someone else’s thread rather than helping? I’m also not here to wear kid gloves to avoid offending someone that isn’t even contributing to the conversation.

    Hoggle
I haven’t really been reading about cards dying playing it.

No? A year ago, quite a few people on this forum reported 3090 FTW3 deaths in Halo MCC, with the exact same symptoms as now in New World.

Do you know what the word condescending means? You can pretend to take the high road all you want but if you acted that way in a customer service role in a store you would be fired. Period! I have also helped in several threads regarding the 3090 and HW failures. I even had to return my own due to New World. When I have a problem with my card, I expect the company to be understanding and helpful. Not "direct". I am not the only one here that thought your response was inappropriate.

How is me saying "you are delightful" hijacking the thread? All further posts have been responding to YOU.
