For those that missed out on this card today. Don't feel too bad if you only planned to game with it as it it's only 10FPS faster than a 3080 for double the price.

At-least it makes sense now as to why Nvidia has hid the performance change during their initial launch and also held the reviews till launch day.
Also interesting is a quote from Nvidia indicating this is not really a Titan?

yeah and the fps numbers are not all that much higher over the 3080 at least for me teh 3090 i don't think is a worthwhile buy but i working to get to elite status just incase they move this to the 3080 purchase requirements too -_-

Basically it's 20% better than 3080 for gaming and likely better for workstation applications

Yes, in 8K gaming. From all the reviews I've seen in 4K gaming it's only 10-15 percent faster.
I mean I get it, faster is faster however, that price difference doesn't justify it for me. Waiting for the 3080 here.

For me it comes down to whether or not you want to spend the money. I personally do not mind spending the extra for a little performance. I think there will be newer games out that will probably widen those gaps at some point.

The argument of a 3090 or a 3080 is like should I buy a GT350 or a GT350R? They are basically the same car except a few minor changes, yet some will pay the money and some won't.

That GN review.. all I kept saying to myself was. Ouch!!!!

    Wow.

"This is not the card your looking for!"

Hope it gets better. Hopefully that extra $300 for the Ftw3 ultra is worth it over the FE.

What am I talking about? I spent crazy money going from a $1400 2080ti Ftw3 Ultra and $260 on a Hydro copper to only return the card 2 weeks later and blow $2100+ on a kingpin and a month later a hydro copper block for it and bought up a new case and modded it and added a ton of new water cooling prob another 1k for that.. hahaha.

So yeah. Enjoy your top card!

I'm with you on that. I would love a 20GB model even if it cost a grand to get.

The problem is I'm without a video card at the moment and I don't think the 20's are in the near future.
Therefore the 10Gb is probably going to have to do.

According to this review of an Asus model with a 480w Power Limit

    https://www.techpowerup.com/review/asus-geforce-rtx-3090-strix-oc/

It doesn't seem that the higher power limits are really have any major impact on OC. Now this could be thermal constrained a little, or really only taken advantage of with LN2.

My 3090's will be going under water, but if the Higher PL doesn't really help. might just get FE cards as Blocks will be easier to get then ones for the FTW.

You can't run any card at 480W without watercooling or an AC unit blowing on the card, etc.

Try harder.   Although I wasn't really trying when I got this score.

So the 3090 FE with comparable power levels and cooling to my card is a whopping 32% faster.  Let me whip out my $1500+Tax.

I told myself I didn't need the 3090, but that is a nice jump in frame rate for 4k high refresh rate.

True point. I have 5 radiators in my CaseLabs case, so thermal control I don't think will be an issue for me, but I am more curious though if the reviews are really thermal limited, or more the chips are already redlined and not much more headroom.

Those seem to be the BEST case scenario for a higher PL. If you look at the average FPS across all games (Yes not best graph, but still gives general idea) the gains aren't that major.

10% more FPS for twice the price is steep but I would do it if I could get one.
