Windows 11, Tried fresh build, tried different Drivers for the GPU. If i'm using the PC to browse the internet i get no issues. When i load a game, maybe 5mins in i'll get a black no signal screen. I can still hear the game in the background and the PC isnt frozen or crashed. Nothing brings the screen back except for a restart. I've reseated the GPU, new cables, different monitor. I've tried stock settings on GPU(no overclock) I have no idea what to do anymore, RMA?

Do the fans on the gpu shoot up to max speed when this occurs?

No, the fans remain the same speed. Screen goes black and i can still hear and use the PC in the background for a few seconds then it seems to just crash. PC stays on but screen stays black and no input signal. I've tried stock settings thinking it might be an overclock issue. Still happening. PSU is a Corsair HX750 but ive never had this problem until now. It was working fine for months with both the GPU and CPU overclocked. Should i RMA the GPU?

I did the OCCT Power test with the 3080TI at Stock settings and it instantly crashed the same way while gaming. I'm guessing my 750w power supply isnt enough. How did i go months with no issues? and now its doing this?

If your system didn’t automatically shutdown/restart while running the psu test I doubt the psu is the issue. Best thing to do at this point would be to test the card in another known good working pc.

Soon as I started the test, maybe 2 seconds after the GPU hit 103% power and then it did the black screen instant crash.
If I lower gpu to 80% power and run the test no crash. As soon as I put default 100% power it crashes pretty much instantly. Same black screen. The PC doesn't restart itself but just stays there frozen black screen. I have to press restart on the pc itself to reboot.
You think its GPU or PSU not enough Watts. Its a HX750
I'm also running a 12700k overclocked all cores 5GHZ.

Yeah I was worried it was GPU. Never had this issue before for months!! Since the launch of the 3080 and 3080TI. Had it always overclocked too. Nothing has changed in my setup.
Just that the card started black screening :(
Does EVGA do Advanced RMA?

Is the PC completely off (no cpu or case fans, pumps, etc. working) when it crashes? When you're changing GPU power to 100%, are you running load or completely idle/desktop only?

No the PC stays on, fans and lights stay on. Audio sometimes stays on too.
If I change gpu power to 100% in desktop/idle no issues. If I run a game or a test that gets the gpu to ramp up to 100% power it crashes.

Ram is Overclocked with XMP, didnt have an issue before though. I'll try stock clocks on RAM and see if i can get it to crash

Likely not RAM at all...either not receiving enough power from psu (consideirng its ok at 80%) or its a GPU internal power delivery problem...in which case the gpu reuires to be RMA....I would try a new psu before RMA....if new better psu doesnt help and / or you cannot try the GPU in a known working system witha decent 850w+ psu RMA Card.

I think it might be PSU not enough power. If I run OCCT test for GPU only I can put power to 113% full load no issue. Then if I run a separate test for the CPU, soon as it starts and there's full load on both and total wattage is over 650w the black screen crash happens instantly. If I run the test for cpu and gpu one at a time no issue. I'm going to swap my 750w with a 1000w this weekend. If it still crashes then I'll RMA the GPU. Also I set RAM to stock and it still happened so I doubt its RAM. How much Watts is a 3080TI FTW3 supposed to put out. OCCT was showing a peak of 450w and spikes of up to 530w! and with my overclocked 12700k cpu peaking at over 300 those two alone is 800+ watts! My psu is only 750w

Your card should be 400w at default power limit, and 450w at max power limit. However the 3000 series are known for transient spikes above their limits.

Yeah it does that but those spikes to like 530w is insane. I put my CPU overclock back to stock. Tried running the power test again with OCCT and got black screen crash. The cpu this time was a much lower watt of 160. So that would be around 600-650w. Is that still too much for a 750w PSU? Or is it really the GPU for some reason can't work under load with the CPU because if i run a GPU stress test alone its fine no crashing. i can max out power at 113% shows 450w of power and some spikes to 500+ Hopefully new PSU will fix this.

^^^^^ I'll bet it works fine with new PSU....definitely not unstable RAM....these are not symptoms of unstable RAM. These 3080Ti's are power hungry cards, especially if you move slider to 112%....mine hits 450w thru gaming and benchmarks.

Yeah! 1600w sounds insane lol
I got the 750w because forums and some psu calculator sites suggested it was fine for my build.
Guess they don't take overclocking into account.
Feels good to finally have a 1000w psu

Funny 1st 1kW psu I purchased was wayyyyy back in 2012 maybe iirc.....playing around with Tri SLi GTX 580's ;) This 1600 was running Tri SLi 780Ti's and then SLi 1080Ti's..... My bench test psu is a 4 yr old Corsair AX 1200i Yes indeed OC'ing both CPU and GPU makes a huge difference in power consumption...a highly OC's 9900k can consume close to 300w alone..... Ideally you want to be sitting in the top of the efficiency curve of your psu....which is around 60% power draw of rated Max.....

I'm having this same issue with 3080ti FTW and a Corsair HX 1000W. The PSU I purchased is likely 10 years old. Fans stay the same rpm, still can hear sound. Black screen have to reboot. Installed X1 and lowered power target to 90% and it has happened once since then. On reboot X1 has power limit all the way to the left at lowest 25% PSU issue?

10 year old psu?!? Yeah, time to get a new one. The 25% issue with precision usually happens when leaving it open and installing a new graphics driver. Never heard of it just happening on a plain restart.

Are you aware that your HX1000 is actually 2 separate 500 watt power supplies one for each rail, in one enclosure? I'd replace it. It's not really suitable for your 3080Ti.

I suspected it was 2x 500 rails. With the 3080Ti & 10850K its done relatively well at being stable. I'm picking up a CORSAIR RMx Series RM1000x soon. Thanks for the reply!
