Checking the benchmarks it is looking like the 3080ti is so close in performance that it might just be the sweet spot in the 3000 lineup, great price and very VERY near the 3900. What direction are you going, 3090 to be the ultimate or 3080ti ?

The RTX 3090 is a bit of an overkill with the vast amount of memory. For gamers the RTX 3080ti should be just fine (with 12GB of GDDR6X memory).

I really want a 3090 but would settle for a 3070. I'm still hanging in there with my 1070 but would like to have a new card and upgrade a few other components before bf2042 is released.

I'd think that 3080 Ti is a true 4K card IMHO...

What funny is pre-covid, it said 1500 for a 3090 was way too expensive. Now I'd gladly snap one up at that price.

    I'm curious of why some would pick 3090 over the 3080 or 3080 ti - isn't the 3090 a 8K card ($300 more than 3080 ti)?

What happens when there is no availability. I am in the same boat and would of been fine getting a 6900xt or a beefed up 3080. However getting those seem nigh impossible.

I had to settle for a RX 6900 XT which is fine.

Well, if you consider the 3060 it has 8GB VRAM and a 256-bit memory interface width whereas 3060 with 12GB VRAM and a 192-bit.

Sorry I'm not very knowledgeable here - is it more beneficial to have more vram over the memory interface?

Well that depend - whether you gaming (and cranking up all the eyes candy settings) or what's not (like web surfing, video streaming, work, etc).

🤔.....sweet spot for the deep pockets customers😏

Those who abuse power, are nothing but scumbags! The challenge of power is how to use it and not abuse it. The abuse of power that seems to create the most unhappiness is when a person uses personal power to get ahead without regards to the welfare of others, people are obsessed with it. You can take a nice person and turn them into a slob, into an insane being, craving power, destroying anything that stands in their way.

Memory is so important for 3d modeling and AI. I bet you that in a few years, 11Gb won't be enough for the best games. 3080ti is too big of a downgrade.

for gaming 3080ti is ok but if you have to do also graphic things like 3d modeling, ram is important so 3090, but only for gaming 3080ti, 3090 is overkill for gaming in my opinion

Your definition of "best" is sus. If you need more than 11GB of VRAM to play a good game, there is something wrong in this world.

Indeed, the 3090 I believe gear toward content creations (unless one has to have the absolute best there is) whereas 3080 ti (with 12 GB VRAM) is fine for gaming at 1k/2k/4k.

The price isn't great, to be honest. Other people might be different but I can't justify a 10-15% performance increase for $500, compared to rtx 3080.

3090 and 3080ti are too high above my budget. I play enough video games to justify the price.

The sweetspot for me on price and performance is 3060 TI or 3070. I would probably settle for a reasonably priced 3060 too!
