My guess is the site will crash and it'll be next to impossible to even queue up. Elite or not.

Hope not but seems to be industry standard for launches...

If I get a 3060 or some other terrible card that has the evga logo from a third party seller can I use the step up program to get a 3080ti?

i hope the mining limited makes supply just a tad bit easier and knocks the resellers back a step or two.  They will still continue to exist, but it's HARD to find a card right now.  I should have joined EVGA queue on launch day.

I remember when the 3090s were $1700 - $1900 and I thought that was too insane. Now they’re $3500 or greater. A good alternative seems to be to go with a custom build. I was able to score a 5900x with a 3080 and 4000 mhz ram for under $4k. If you want to get a GPU close to MSRP, that seems to be the only way. Of course there were problems with my rig. But I simply RMA’d the cooler and case fans and installed my own since those components are the only components that won’t break the bank and can be acquired for a reasonable price.

that is insane. I just built 5900x on B550 Aorus, 32 GB 4000MHz GSKILL, couple samsung SSDs and Noctua for about 1800 EUR.

Now the only way to get hold of a GPU is to know people who import cards to your country. Basically no mortal can get hold of it, even if you are willing to pay 2.5k for 3080

Did you get your 5900x to run the memory at 4000? I couldn’t even get mine to boot over 3600 while OC.

Yeah, a system like Linus's Verified AG shouldn't be that terribly difficult to implement.

These cards may be a bit more buyable because they should have a mining limiter.. theoretically

EVGA Associate Code: S7J93UZF57CEOFM

Use the associate code when purchasing an item or use the link when you meet the requirements to become an elite member (if you so desire)

this limiter is just words. a few weeks after the start of sales, it will be hacked, and the 3080ti will produce 100+mh/s.
therefore, if we fail to join the queue for 3080ti within the first 30 minutes after launch, most likely, we will never get them again)

Elite is the only way to get in early enough to get a card in a decent amount of time without paying scalper prices. Glad I knew about the 24hr exclusivity to elite so I can start working my way up to the magic 100. Side effects: meaningful contribution to forums

Yes I have received a dud EVGA 3060 from CCL and I've enrolled to the 3070 step up. Long shot I think.

Don’t mention Linus’s verified actual gamer thing. It’s a marketing ploy for LTT so you
have to watch every single video at the time of release to get a chance to buy one.

I have a much longer comment about this on this very topic I think, so go check that out.

There is supposed to be some sort of hardware implementation, not just software

Oh boy, I am gonna catch a lotta flak for this. Miners have genuine use cases and the 3000 series shouldn’t be limited. It’ll open up the possibility to further restrict the GPU’s capabilities. Blame the scalpers, insanely high demand, and the kajillion shortages. I’m not a miner, I just want to play VR.

I feel as though Nvidias ploy here to limit the next series of cards will only make it more difficult to get the existing series and unless they discontinue it entirely, it will also eat into the already short silicon supply.

What headset will you be using?
I have a Rift S in my household but to be honest, the refresh rate and resolution of that headset are not that demanding. A 2070 Super (or similar -- 1080ti,  5700xt, etc) can max out most games when using a Rift S.
So if you have recommendations on a higher resolution headset than Rift S, please let me know.

The Valve Index is a super headset! I simply cannot recommend it enough. In my short time with it, when my mobile 1070 didn’t overheat, it was by far the most amazing experience. Grip sensing so you can grip things in real life, comfy Controllers, adjustable resolution up to 300%, and even adjustable refresh rate (choose from 80,90,120,or 144). It’s expensive(1K) and when I got it, there was a queue similar to this one. Haven’t checked on the queue for that one in a while, so maybe the queue was completed since then.

Since Elite member are getting access to new product launches 24 hours early then others it would be good to use this time to get to elite if you have not already earned it. I really don’t know if a 3080Ti is happening but I do know it seems Elites would be first in line.

Use an Associates Code & SAVE 5% - 10% on your purchase. Just click on the associates banner to save, or enter the associates code at checkout on your next purchase. If you choose to use my code I want to personally say "Thank You" for using it.

I will keep that in mind if / when I obtain the 3080ti. The adjustable refresh rate is a really cool feature, as is the wider field of view. I am also not that much of a fan of Oculus' integration with Facebook; if it weren't for the headset, I wouldn't even have a Facebook account.

When I was searching for a headset, I specifically excluded oculus due to Farcebook(my nickname for Facebook) acquiring them. They simply have terrible practices on level with Goolag(guess who that is). Both have terrible privacy practices and should not be used. My tip of advice :)
Some replacements:
Google —> DuckDuckGo
Drive —> self-hosting?
Gmail —> literally anyone else
Youtube —> invidio.us(alternative front end that ensures privacy)
Docs/Slides/Sheets —> Office

If you're not playing beat saber, and are using it for sims and beating the saber, reverb g2 is the only way to go. Forget the negativity around it. I honestly think it's just fb shills realizing it's actually a great product. I own it and couldn't be happier.

Elite queue for the 3080ti should be alot better than any of the other 3000 series. There's a lot less Elite members than all of the people in the 3000 series in queue. With the hardware revisions I suspect majority of miners will avoid these cards at least until they find out what the excact hash rates are. So no clusterfuct of people buying this time around. Although I've forgotten about my Oct queue for the 3080 ftw ultra... I'm still confident that evga's effort to get cards in the hands of gamers is a noble one.

So for EVGA's 3080ti you think they'll go $1200? or higher?

10900k @5.1 | 3080ti FE | Asus ROG Maximus XII Formula | G.Skill Trident Z DDR4-3600 32gb | 2TB 970 Evo Plus M.2 | Noctua NH-D15S | Seasonic PX-850 | Cooler Master H500 with two extra NF-A14 fans on top | My Elite Referral code

can't you get elite status just by posting here on the forums? I didn't think it was that hard to achieve.

Rig1: EPYC 7V12 | [4] RTX A4000
Rig2: EPYC 7B12 | [5] 3080Ti + [2] 2080Ti
Rig3: EPYC 7B12 | [6] 3070Ti + [2] 3060
Rig4: [2] EPYC 7742 | RTX A2000
Rig5: [2] EPYC 7642
Rig6: EPYC 7551 | [4] Titan V

Serious question. Given the option would the 3080ti or 3080 hybrid be the more cost effective option?
