Andrew_WOT 50% failures? I think the fact that happy users don't visit the forum speaks for itself.
This idea that only unhappy, disgruntled customers of EVGA's products visit this forum is preposterous. I don't own a 30 series card, here I am, visiting the forum maybe every other day. This isn't a retail site such as amazon or newegg where the phenomenon of people being much more inclined to post a negative review of a product vs posting a positive review of a product that works great is real. This is an enthusiast forum, so there is less skewing going on in this regard. Simply have a look at the subject matter of the threads here in the 30 series main page. If it was true that only people who have had a bad experience with an EVGA product visit the official forum here then the tone and subject matter of the threads would reflect that. They don't. The tone and subject matter of the posts runs the gamut from speculation on new products, overclocking, water block fitment and other enthusiast oriented subject matter. This notion that the poll is flawed because people have sought out this poll via the internet or that the majority of customers frequenting the official forum are unhappy customers with a failed GPU is either legitimate delusion or PR management doled out by EVGA moderators with alt accounts or "forum users" somehow affiliated with EVGA (and compensated) who are now engaged in damage control. I am on the waitlist for both 3090 KPE and FTW3 but I think I will just get a Strix. There is something really off with the 30 series cards and the high failure rate is too large to ignore. I didn't like EVGA's direction with the aesthetic design (the red lips, the garish red stripe, and the waterblocks also look like garbage, and they are still using steel plugs?) and now, well now it looks like the build quality compliments their aesthetic design. I don't know how EVGA could screw up the 30 series so badly. Asus is head and shoulders ahead of them and worth the price difference. Looks like their fully automated fabrication process is less failure prone in the end. I will miss the iCX temp sensors, but I have a question, why are there no temp sensors on the top bank of VRAM on the 3090? Kind of pointless if you ask me as those modules get up to 100C apparently, flirting with failure temperature and unable to be overclocked at all unless you run out and buy an MP5 Waterworks block that constricts your flow rate or jury rig a RAM block to the back-plate. Not only has EVGA NOT shown any innovation with the 30 series (how about Hydrocopper block having an integrated back-plate block, i.e. EKWB?) but they've actually removed features from the models below FTW3, such as the iCX temp probes that were available on 2080 Ti XC2 (I have and love them). Now, if you want temp probes, you have to fork out like $400 above FE for them and then there's the problem with FTW3 not using more than 450w even with 1kw XOC bios, something to do with load balancing or something or another. EVGA really let me down with the 30 series. I'm either going FE 3080 Ti or Strix 3080 Ti at this point. I've waited 5 months due to the fake pandemic supply chain disruption and it looks like that was a blessing in disguise that allowed me to avoid the red light of death FTW3 debacle and getting price gouged at $1800 for a FTW3. Now I will pick up a 3080 Ti for $1k in another 5 months and avoid all of this nonsense, assuming the fake pandemic nonsense lifts. Barring that, I'm sitting tight for 40 series / Hopper in 2022-2023.

May I ask why, what is so entertaining here? I am here just checking my waitlist status, after I get my card I'll be long gone until next upgrade. Same as was with 9 and 10 series.

Some come here to check on a higher performance bios, drivers, what settings are working for OC, cooling and anything else that an enthusiast would be interested in. Some come here to help others out if they can. If you are here checking on your waitlist status, meaning you potentially do not even have a 3000 series yet, why are you even reading anything else other than the status? Because it is a forum that is centered around a specific brand and interest so people with good cards, bad cards and people who don't even have one yet, read the forums ;) You have at least 50 posts, almost all pertaining to the 3000 series, and by admission you are only here to check on your status. Looks like some of your posts were helpful information to others who do own one. My point proven. This forum has plenty of users who are here regularly and have good cards. The fact that they do not make a post with the subject line " I have a perfectly working 3000 series" does not mean they are not here reading.

The only “trend” I saw in the forum was that around December the “3080 failed” escalated and stopped around early January (RMAs reached the customers). I would suspect this could be attributed to a bad batch of cards that “escaped” QC or some other factor we have yet to learn about. All that being said, the vast majority of people get their cards and it works or get their RMA and it works, they have no reason to come back and inform us. I’m one of those cases where I suffered with my first card that when I got my RMA I decided to stick around and help as I can with what little knowledge I have but also having troubleshooted my first card to the last second because I didn’t want to spend 1/4 of its price to send it for RMA. I still think there is far more good cards than duds. My GPU was replaced with a same SN earlier by 1500-2000 series and it’s been running fine. I can’t call “trend” of failed series etc. it’s random and has two main ways: 1. Red light of death 2. Black screens fans spinning pc rebooting I had the 2.. Explanation for 1. Started to be “blown fuses”. Reality: only EVGA knows and whether they will tell us or when it’s unknown. Still they honor their RMA which regardless of the high cost to send the card over, is an important thing.

I locked the good card poll. If the common belief is that only people with problems come to the forum then all of the good card votes cannot be real and the 30 good card spike over the past two days must be bogus ;) Back to just bad card poll so nobody can complain that its just not fair.

You are not suggesting that ~50% failure rate as your poll shows reflects the real situation?

It is clear that you missed my post about pool credibility "It is hilarious how people have no idea how any pool works. This particular pool is useful and 100% accurate as clearly shows numbers calculated on AVAILABLE DATA (from FORUM users). It does not represent FACTORY DATA known to EVGA headquarters (ratio of manufactured and reported failed cards)".

Andrew_WOT 50% failures? I think the fact that happy users don't visit the forum speaks for itself. You are not suggesting that ~50% failure rate as your poll shows reflects the real situation? You are not suggesting happy users don't visit this forum are you? Wait you did not suggest it.. you flat out said it. Like most others you did not read the thread. You saw a poll and you jumped to a conclusion. If you had taken the time to read, you would see the original poll was made to find something common among failures. A good card poll did not even exist until a bunch of people ^ whined that the poll was made to show that cards are failing left and right, which it was never made to do, and that was never suggested. So a good card poll was made, and just like I predicted, people ^ showed up and whined that it was not fair "because happy forum members don't visit the forum". You would have also read that I made this same statement in response to others just like you more than once. The fact is, your theory that happy users do not visit the forum is pure speculation and you have zero data to back up the statement. This poll showed there were at least 160 or so happy forum member, and it was never suggested that it was an accurate count of total users in the world, no more than it is an accurate count of card owners in the world that have bad cards. From the top post... This may accomplish nothing. It may show a trend. At the very least it will give us something to look at based off the information we have available to us on this forum and a central location to report rather than spread out across multiple threads. Nowhere does it say this is an end all poll that shows completely accurate world card owner success and failure rate. Its purpose is explained quite clearly, even to a level for those with limited capabilities.

Oof. I encourage reading up a bit on how to conduct statistical analysis and obtain representative samples.
There is sampling bias here that greatly skews results. Not just the forum, but self selection bias on who replies.
I had a 3090 fail at one point. This is not a conspiracy. It is just math.

Imagine conducting a poll in a hospital and then coming out with the result:
Out of 150 patients asked 100% were ill 65% recovered Based on that everyone is ill.
This is a great forum but honestly the vast majority of people who come here with a problem just want their problem solved and don’t care about anything else.
Yes you did a great job with the polls. But they don’t reflect the reality: Thousands of cards have been sold and a few hundred across the board had problems. Rough estimate of mine would be a fail rate between 2–5% per type of card. Certainly NOT 50-60%.
With all due respect for the effort and absolutely NOT trying to argue.

Having three separate polls that are not related is never going to give good results.
You need this as a survey that covers everything, simultaneously, for one user. To start, I have had 4 cards, one of those was an RMA. Did the card fail, no, but the sensors were giving really odd readings, but the card worked fine otherwise. Can I put that into your poll, no, because it asks if I had a failure, not if I have had to RMA because of a failure.
So how many people have answered that there was a failure or a bad card based on the limited option for answers.
If you set it up as a surgery, “1: How many cards have you owned/had.” 4 “2: which cards have you owned (lists mode numbers to select, which option to select all that apply)” three 3090FTW3’s and one 3080FTW3 “3: Of those 4 cards did you have any with a fault?” Yes “4: Which card had a fault?” First 3090 FTW3 I received “5: Did the card fail?” No “6: you answered no, please explain” Two ICX sensors were off, but card functioned perfectly. “7: Did you RMA the card?” Yes “8: has the RMA card been working well?” yes, works great “9: if you have any further issues, would you update these answers?” Yes. “10: did you keep the cards on the stock thermal paste and cooler?” Only while I was waiting for my waterblocks to arrive 11: you mentioned waterblocks, how are the temperature difference between the two cards, dead on at idle, but show 21c at the same time, but haven’t tried load yet. Played Black Ops Cold War and Modern Warfare yesterday, and the top card touched 42c for a moment.
Like, this type of poll. Needs to guide members to give their best answer. As soon as I mentioned that users should be able to enter their option numerous times in the good poll, because I do have three working cards, And I am here to help people, so all three cards should be listed as functioning.
In the end, these polls could be useful, but it is up to the admin running the poll to pick the pertinent information that is going to be publicized.
At this time I have a 75% rate of absolutely fantastic cards, and one that was great, but had a bug about it. While these would be completely unofficial polls or surveys, you could garner decent support bunt be aware that any user that can put their information in, without being vetted to see if the information is accurate will have Someone change numbers on the polls just to do it.
Heck, people keep changing their information in the threads made to track the level of cards that have been sold. They are doing it go now good reason.
Whil I believe RickJames just wants to satiate his will for a little bit of understanding, I am going to flat out say that many of the people here criticizing the attempt to gather information are here just to criticize and not here to be helpful or productive to what think works of not.

+1...great observation there Scar. I would add to that they list the mobo/cpu/ram/psu they are using with said fails, whether its a prebuilt or custom rig and how much building experience they have. Plus the FTW/Kingpin cards are the only ones that are really evga's designs, the others are just nvidia rebrands, so they may need that poll over at the geforce forums instead.

I was on this forum during the Pascal thermal pad thing. I don't recall seing such a high frequency of "my card died" threads back then....and I was looking for them as I feared the lack of thermal pads on my 1070 might cause failure.
In the relatively small portion of threads that were discussing failures, I also didn't see such a consistent mode of failure as the red light of death we have with the Ampere stuff now.
This is not business as usual.

Is there a way to respond that my card as worked correctly? the fact that the topic mentions fail and good numbers imply that.

The option to vote in the poll that the owner has a good card was removed because it was believed that “only people with bad cards visit the forums” meaning that every good card listed was just someone skewing the poll.

True but let me clarify some. It was the belief of others that only people with bad cards visit the forum, not my belief. I have no doubt that most of the good card votes were legit. But since everyone saw this as unfair like it was some type of competition, and misinterpreted the point of the poll to begin with, I decided it was best to just go back to one poll. Having conversed with you I think you understand my original goal was to just find something in common about failures we know about. I should have disregarded the ones asking for a good card poll.

More threads with more people having received RMA cards that fail. Some people are on a 3rd card already. This is insane and we have not seen something like this before. These are $1900+ 3090 GPUs we are talking about here...not some low end $400 cards. EVGA needs to comment on this situation.

Totally agree with you. People in some posts try to normalize this situation.

Doing a quick form search there are 127 THREADS (which means hundreds more posting) about failed 3090s alone. The apologists and deniers on this forum need to SU and see the clear truth...there is an issue and EVGA needs to discuss it.

Makes me wonder why people buying 3090 at all. Problem child from day one. At my knowledge (from Geforce time) this is the worst card (short life) in EVGA great and bold history.

May I ask why, what is so entertaining here? I am here just checking my waitlist status, after I get my card I'll be long gone until next upgrade. Same as was with 9 and 10 series.
I have recently been visiting this forum mostly for research, to gauge how bad the red light of death problem is, there is a new entry here dated 13 hours ago, I will grab a link. The thing is, I'm in the market for a 3090 and so I've done extensive research into the various models. There is a much higher reporting of failure with the FTW3 all over the web and this poll basically amounts to brave journalism about the problem because EVGA is hush on this issue (I'm honestly surprised they haven't locked this thread and issued warnings, but I believe if they did that it would look bad on their part, as though they are trying to cover it up).
