Got lucky with the newegg shuffle and received my 3070 TI last week. One thing I noticed off the bat was how much cooler this ran at idle than my 1080. However, the reason for this is the fans are running ( Fan1 : 37%, Fan 2: 37%, Fan 3: 47% ). I would like the lower the fan speeds, but only Fan 3 will drop to 0. Fan 1 and 2 will not go lower than 36%. I thought these cards were designed to run with fans at 0% until a temperature was reached. Any feedback?

Check bios switch on top of the card. OC vs Normal. OC has more aggressive fan profile.

As the guy above said check the bios switch. Most likely you have it on the oc profile.

That must be it. I did slide it to OC before installing and its a glass side panel. Just gonna leave it as it barely fits into my case with the power cords. Thanks for the help, couldnt find anywhere that said it would keep the fans on with the OC profile.

OC vbios disables fan stop. I understand not wanting to get in there but if you’re not gaming those fans will wear out quicker being on all of the time your computer is.

Thanks for that info. My PC is on about 12 hours a day between work and gaming. I will take off the front panel and reach in to turn it off. I have 3 120 case fans blowing up at it, so it will probably stay cool even with its own fans off.

Of course. Yeah I’m sure it will. I have two 140mm fans blowing up into my 3080 Ti as well and stays around 40C at idle.

You might find after turning off your computer and switching the vBIOS to normal the fans will still be running. If that is the case, open X1 if you have it installed and note the vBIOS version listed. Then restart your computer and it should change it. Open X1 to confirm the vbios has changed and that fans have stopped upon boot up into Windows.

I had this issue with my 3080 Ti where GPU-Z was saying I was running the normal vBIOS but fan stop was disabled and that made me question what was happening. Upon opening X1 it was reporting I was running the OC vBIOS. A simple restart fixed it.
