I'm not an avid gamer but I was interested in a 3060 for my build. Question is is there really that much of a difference between the TI 8GB and the 12GB versions of that card?

Quite a large difference actually. The RTX 3060 Ti is almost as fast as a RTX 3070 (they can actually be overclocked to match a RTX 3070) where as the RTX 3060 is only a little faster than the previous gen RTX 2060 Super. The 12GB VRAM on it is completely irrelevant as the card is no where near powerful enough to make use of it.

I would say it depends on the games you are playing but the RTX 360Ti is probably the card you want if you want to play modern games. The 3060 is still a good card but I feel it's best for when you play mostly games that have been out for a little bit instead of modern ones or are looking forward to a game that isn't out yet.
