Didn't work for me. Set to 240 on the monitor and its just black and not recognized in the nvidia control panel as even being connected. Have to reset it to get it back to 120. Pretty ridiculous this is still an issue almost half a year after release.

Unrelated: Do the Odyssey monitors still have the G-Sync flickering? Was checking them out a while ago but passed due to reports of flickering.

You will need a 30 series for it to work. Works flawlessly on my Asus 3090 Strix OC.

Related: 100% My monitor did not have any flickering issues out of the box. With the new Samsung Monitor firmware release. It fixed a lot of other issues for gamers running a 30 series card. The performance and features will only continue getting better overtime when card bios updates and Samsung's monitor firmware updates continue to role out over the next couple of years.

If you have a 10 or 20 series. You might only be able to get the last firmware releases online somewhere before the newest version released for the G9. I heard this latest release is for the 30 series fix on reddit and other tech outlets. The newest firmware release is already up on the U.S. Samsung website now. https://www.samsung.com/us/support/owners/product/odyssey-gaming-monitor-g95-series I knew NVIDIA had nothing to do with it. It was on Samsung to resolve alone. It is to bad the idiots in R&D at Samsung didn't have the 240Hz feature available right out of the box on launch. It pi$$ed a lot of people off. They returned the monitor for refunds. The QC was sucking big time at launch. Samsung's G9 product page at one time had a 2 1/2 star product rating review for G9. Talk about falling off the charts and going down hill fast. I am overall very pleased with my monitor. I waited until 2020 Q3 to purchase one. Now I have the best improved monitor on the market and a 3090.

I have a 3090 Kingpin. No option for 240hz in the control panel only the monitor and goes black if I try to set it in the monitor. No flickering. They fixed that back in 1.004

This only applies to the Samsung 49" Odyssey G9 Gaming Monitor. Model number: LC49G95TSSNXZA If you don't own this series then the firmware won't work for you on a 3090 RTX series graphics card. Mine is working with my Asus 3090 RTX Strix OC. I updated the firmware on 12.17.20 At least it's been fixed for me. And a wave of other gaming enthusiast. It will only get better with future updates.

First check you're version in the OSD. The only conclusion I can come to is that you're not doing it correctly guys. Download the firmware file v1008.1 from the U.S. Samsung website to a USB stick in FAT32 format. I used a USB 2.0 thumb drive and it worked perfectly. I heard USB 3.0 thumb drives sometimes don't work. Next, I unzipped the file only to my USB. Next, I moved the USB to the USB port on the back of the monitor. Note the following> Make sure you do not have you're monitor setup like a USB HUB. Remove all cables other then the USB stick, power supply cable, and DisplayPort cable. Insert the USB drive in. Go to the menu options on you're monitor. Select software and then update. Wham Bam! done! Update completed! Make sure you also reinstall the Samsung monitor drivers. They will be removed once the update is completed. I really hope you guys can update. If you still have problems. I would contact Samsung support and provide them with your hardware ID model that can be found in the OSD settings. I am only returning the favor in the form of helping and supporting the EVGA online community. I have needed help in the past with bios updates and I got it. So it's always great to return the favor when I find the opportunity.

MKAALAWAJI Thank you so much
See it works! I'd say it's the most exciting news on the 30 series section. At least regarding performance.

How does everyone like the G9 Odyssey? I just went and looked at a brick and mortar store that had one on display. Im leaning towards getting it. This is my first build and Im going to run a 3080 card if I can every find one.

It is the official GOAT of Monitors IMO. The curve is amazing for games that you want to be immersed in (Cyberpunk 2077, anything that can be played in 3rd or 1st person basically, it's also amazing in CS:GO because you can literally see like you are actually looking with eyes if you're sitting the right distance from it. I personally had to get used to it, it gave me immersion sickness similar to VR at first until my brain adjusted to the fact that DESPITE what my EYES are seeing, I AM NOT MOVING lol after that it was great. I would recommend running it at 120Hz when you're on desktop to save on power draw both by the monitor & your GPU. I cannot comment on how great it is for professional work too much at least not color wise. For pure multi-tasking it is amazing to be able to fit 3-4 windows next to each other & not have to alt-tab back & forth. And it also has PiP & PBP if you have two systems you want to work on simultaneously or if you want to split it in to two separate monitors. I really can't think of a downside other than the white/black look, which I actually like. I also got an arm for mine because the stand is too short & the legs on said stand are HUGE (understandably). The arm surprisingly does a great job. It does have some minor wiggle if I bump my desk, but for typing or regular use, it's steady as a rock, and at the proper height, thanks to the monitor arm. I prefer my monitor to be where the center of it is just below my looking-straight-forward line of sight. The stock stand cannot do that, at least not with my desk. And the legs take up so much room that it's just not practical. I would highly recommend wall or desk mounting it with an arm. Other than that, zero complaints so far. I will say if you want to push that resolution in certain high end newer games, 10GB on the 3080 is going to be an issue. I've seen both Marvel's Avengers & Cyberpunk 2077 get up over 10GB of VRAM usage (that's usage, not requested, because I can lower the resolution & it goes down) on my 3090, and that's with DLSS on Quality (the best looking setting in both games). When I used to play Avengers @ 3440 x 1440, the 3080 would occasionally get stutters which I only assume was from hitting VRAM buffer limit occasionally... or the game being buggy.

This is great info! I have struggled finding much on real world info on these monitors. Most of what I will be doing is design software/laser engraving programs and some light gaming. If I set it up as 2 separate monitors would that make it so I can Full screen game on 1/2 of the monitor and still have something else up on the other 1/2? If that works I would like to have my laser engraving software up and running so I would be able to watch it or the camera on it while still gaming on 1/2. Also would that help the GPU Usage on gaming on half of it or would it still struggle the same? Yeah surprisingly I like that color combo too. Ive got a butcher block top stained darker with White legs I think it will make my setup look pretty sweet. Do you think it would have enough room pushed all the way back in the corner of my desk? (ill attach a pic) Or will there not be enough room for a keyboard if I set it up like that?

I took your advice on setting the monitor refresh rate in desktop mode at 120Hz Game-mode will operate at 240Hz Overall, I am pleased with the purchase. It is of great value and outperforms both Acer and Alienware. This will be the last monitor I buy for a very long time. Unless it bricks. I'm not buying another one....

So it seems you guys all have the Odyssey G95. Mine looks identical, but I bought it earlier this year (2021) and it's the Odyssey G97. What's INSANE is that all other Odyssey variants have Firmware updates posted on Samsung's site, but the G97 has *NO* firmware updates! I'm stuck with FW version M-T9549GGAA-1007.1, which is what it came with. Maybe the G97 actually takes G95 series Firmware? In short, my new 3080TI FTW Ultra just gives me a black screen on my beautiful monitor... (card just arrived today)
