the sticky may not be the best place for this so i'm making a separate thread for it..

This week i updated to a 2070 from win 970s sli mode.
i just updated to 416.81.  now i can't use 3 monitors.

monitor 1. Benq   Zowie XL rebrand.
monitor 2 Acer gd239hz
monitor 3  viewsonic (can't tell atm what model)

while on 416.34 all 3 monitors worked fine. (i can roll back and they work)
but on the new driver as soon as i plug in the viewsonic i lose the signal on the other 2 monitors.. and the viewsonic goes dark (but keeps signal) and flashes image every so often.
as soon as i unplug the viewsonic the benq and acer monitors work.

all 3 are using display ports.  (the benq display port cord, acer and viewsonic are using displayport > dvi adapters as the acer does not have a displayport input even though it has dvid)

is this a new issue? is this card NOT supposed to support 3 separate monitors?

it seems the card will only work with 2 monitors.  note the 2 on the displayport adapters are at 60Hz due to the adapter.

Go back to the Drivers that works and post on NVIDIA's Website.
NVIDIA is not doing well this time around with Their New RTX Platform and Their Drivers

To report a software issue, please fill out the NVIDIA driver feedback form.
This will help us collect the specific information needed to reproduce your issue and prioritize driver fixes: https://surveys.nvidia.com/index.jsp?pi=6e7ea6bb4a02641fa8f07694a40f8ac6

I seem to be OK with 3 monitors - however, not downclocking below 1350mhz at idle

update .. saw this on nvidias forum and seems 2 lines in there affect me (2 monitors on dp adapters and benq zowie XL.

-Black screen on BenQ ZOWIE XL2730 when refresh rate set to 144Hz
-Gears of War 4 may freeze/crash after extended period of gameplay
-DisplayPort to VGA adapters may not work correct with R411 drivers
-AVR switch to 2-channel stereo mode after 5 seconds of idle
-FIFA 19 will crash when in DX12 if the NVIDIA global setting for V-Sync is set to Fast
-Monster Hunter World flickers with grey/black bars with Volume Rendering off
-Shadow flicker in Far Cry 5 after driver update
-Intermitent FPS drops on notebooks using MSHybrid
-416.16:Game may launch to a black screen if DSR is enabled

Hi Maelstrom, if you have reported feedback using the nvidia survey, can you send a Dispdiag.exe dump to driverfeedback@nvidia.com with the same email used.

Odds are NVIDIA will fix it in the next update since it's a new issue that the last driver didn't have. Always good though to let them know the issue since in the wild people have millions of different builds then what the quality assurance team might be using for testing.

Odds are they won't actually, there will only be a few day gap between drivers.

Re: 3 monitors = no fun with new nvidia drivers 416.81 ? 2018/11/13 21:47:34 (permalink)
update:  nvidia is denying all fault and pointing fingers at benq.  likewise benq is blaming nvidia.

new testing with newer drivers released..  416.94 still blackingout 3 monitors (one being the benq zowie xl 2730)

but i did more tests with just 2 (benq and acer)

instead of setting my refresh rate in the nvidia control panel i decided to do it manually in windows own settings.  and i would get a black screen and dispays did not respond.. hdd was still spinnning ect. so i thought driver crash? system crash?  only way i could restart was manually powering off via on off switch.

seems i can set the resolution still to 120hz at 2k resolution
i can set the refresh rate to 144hz but only at 1920x 1080.  or lower.   This leads me to belive something is most detfinetly wrong with the profiles in the driver with benq monitors and resolutions higher than 1080p.
i tested a game to see how ti played. and it played fine at 1080p 144hz.. so i decided to try running 2016's doom at 2k on the benq and wham .. the screen went black.  JUST as if i had set the 2k resolution with 144hz just like in the above windows test.

i could hear the game still paying. (SHoothing/demons ect)but both my displays were locked up (and the benq was black)  This leads me to belive there is some kind of driver crash causing this issue.

I also think its driver related.  I guess they need more time figuring it out.

Now that 416.94 is released, I'd suggest starting over from that driver and see if there's any improvement.  If not, please forward the issue to NVIDIA as others have suggested in the thread.

I'm a BenQ xl2730 owner too with 2080 xc ultra and I can confirm the same problem persists. Coming from a 970 that ran it all with no problems.

However I can get picture on windows home screen to revert back or create custom resolution so that I can get a display to make changes and revert back to a working dirver.

After my new 2080ti and drivers my 3rd monitor, a tv, hooked up via HDMI, caused my overclock to disappear. Unhooked the HDMI cable and rebooted and my OC went back to 5.1.

Mind Boggled.

Dunno if this contributes, but wish I knew what was wrong.
