I think it's more how horrible the website worked. Having a card in your cart and hitting the final payment button only for the site to crash and make you start over. It's a pretty frustrating feeling.

Honestly it is between EVGA and ASUS for me and at least EVGA seems to be trying to get the cards to actual people. Also they are trying to communicate a little bit (with a singe person on twitter) that seems better than any of the other brands.

SprayingMango I've been an EVGA customer for 10+ years and have always bought SLI cards, so I've spent 10's of thousands with EVGA over the years. This launch has been an epic disaster. Both launches I had cards in my cart and was UNABLE TO COMPLETE the transaction. I just got stuck at spinning bubbles and nothing happened. Then, I magically get booted out and the cards are removed because they are out of stock. I'm done with you EVGA. This is a complete joke.
You need to realize that all the AiBs are dependent on NVidia for supply. You can be angry and rightfully so, but it's NVidia who control the supply, not EVGA, and clearly there is nowhere near enough supply to meet demand, hence all the problems - and EVERY reseller including EVGA experienced the same problems with low supply and crashes and frozen websites and bots ruining it for everyone, so enjoy the self-imposed exile from EVGA, you are basically cutting off your nose to spite your face. p.s. I couldn't even get past the 'add to cart' screen...

I, for one, only blame Nvidia for all this. EVGA could probably have done a bit more for bot protection and server stability, but they seem to be making a legitimate effort to combat the botters, and that's all that matters to me.

I think evga is in a unique position because they also run their own webstore, whereas i feel a lot of other aibs just rely on the big etailers, at least for US distribution. While they could have been better prepared for the launch and the server issues they would have (even newegg had issues and they are pretty huge) evga has very consumer friendly and generally high quality products, no reason to right them off, they are one of the good ones out there that do care about customers much more than certain other brands.

Those bots are always checking stock. If you look at Best Buy the moment they have stock it’s gone before you load your cart. Only way to flight this is verify buyers prior to being able to clutter the servers. Or we can go back to old school phone in orders and just wait on the phone as you would wait in a line in store.

I'm sure there are botters on best buy too, but their online store always has some weird issues with that stuff anyway even on products that aren't particularly high demand at times.

Man, if it's really botters on Best Buy, and not just glitches, then there have to be hundreds of botters trying to purchase thousands of cards at all times.

It would be great if the supply explodes after a while and lots of botters get stuck with inventory that they have to sell for less than retail if they even wanna move their product. :P

I can’t fathom that a huge company like Best Buy doesn’t have there online store working correctly. But it can happen I guess. Just look at eBay you can’t count the amount of cards for sale and while not all are from bots a great majority are especially when you look at the sellers history of selling shoes...

Exactly. There is an ultimate way to beat botters, and that is for the manufacturer/brand to be unpredictable with their stock. If Nvidia needs to sell 1,000 cards to satiate demand (1000 is just for simplicity and for example. obviously they, realistically, need to make many more), but they only release 100 on the first week, botters will be everywhere and assume that they have the ability to corner the market. If, all of a sudden, Nvidia, unannounced, released the rest of the 900 cards they need to satiate demand, botters would be screwed and be stuck with inventory they can't sell for a good price. In the future, botters will be fearful of investing into a company that is known to suddenly drop high-stock.

I don't think it's the supply that's the big issue, it's how horrible the experience is trying to use the website.

With all websites thats selling the cards locking up and crashing seconds after release , and with nvidia not allowing preorders this launch was an armageddon in the making. At least EVGA seems to be trying. Newegg, and best buy dont seem to be changing anything.

Nvidia should have waited on this launch. Too worried about AMD, and they have better versions all ready to go to beat the competition. Screw the customers who JUST bought a card!

not entirely their fault. the whole system boils down to nvidia not doing what they should have. too bad i hate AMD too much to use their products.

Other manufacturers aren't even giving us a chance to get a card. I guess we should be happy we have a 1% chance rather than 0%.

Honestly would you rather have just waited two to three weeks for enough supply that everyone that wanted one could buy one? Not sure how many customers they would have lost, but imagine the number is high.

If I don't get a 3090 FTW3 ultra from evga by the end of the week... that's probably exactly what I'm going to do. I have a life to live. Babysitting this launch is sucking the life out of me. It's like nvidia was sitting around and asked "how can we push more people to scalpers or AMD cards?" ... because they seem to have found the solution to that question quite nicely.

I'm guessing you haven't read about the fact that EVGA has completely rebuilt the way we buy 3000 series cards now? They have arguably fixed the bot problem.
