At least 23 people have been shot in Chicago — two of them fatally — since Friday evening.
 
The most violent period this weekend was Friday night, when two were killed and eights others were wounded between 5 p.m. and midnight. Shootings on Saturday wounded five people over 24 hours.
 
One shooting Friday left a woman dead in the Back of the Yards neighborhood on the South Side.

 
That might be a clam weekend for Chicago.

This is very depressing news. Hopefully bringing awareness to it will bring us closer to a remedy...Hopefully....

The problem is upbringing and culture. Those can't be fixed overnight nor do the people it most effects want those things fixed. You can't regulate and legislate the heart and soul of people. The best thing to do is just leave the geographic area to a more healthy environment. People make their own grave and lie in it.

I wonder how many of those are really innocent bystanders and how many that got shot were the same ones doing the shooting last weekend.

lol Mayor announced he will not be running for reelection. I guess he's achieved his bank account goals. 

Damn, they should try implementing some strict gun laws there.... 
 
Oh... wait....

damn :P Our country has 4-5 murders in TOTAL this year so far :P

Would be nice, but this has been going on for many many years there for some reason.
They even have some of the the most toughest restrictive gun laws in the nation.
Guess it is a good thing they really suck at marksmanship or the toll would be worse.
The real sad thing is, hardly anyone gets caught and prosecuted, they get away with it.
I bet it is the same people doing the shooting over and over. Why not they think if I can get away with it.

gun laws have nothing to do with it. this has been going on since the late 19th century, before there were any gun laws in Illinois. Chicago was completely run by the mob from prohibition and until after WW2. everyone from the mayors (William Hale Thompson especially) down to the traffic cops were paid off or working directly for the mob. just because Al Capone died doesn't mean everything got better over night. it will take a long time for the deep rooted mob mentality, police brutality and racism to die down. when that happens, maybe then kids will no longer feel like they need to drive down to a neighboring state (where the gun laws are a joke) to buy weapons to make themselves feel safer.

Nothing to do with buying a gun to feel safer. It is criminal gangs doing their usual criminal shenanigans, drug trade wars.
Turf wars, usual gang wars. Police and racism has nothing to do with this at all. It is mostly blacks killing blacks.  
White people and the police are not killing the black gang members. They are doing it to their selfs.
Sooner ot later they will kill each other off and there will be peace.
