hey guys, im running an i9 18core, 128gb ram, with 2 2080ti FTW hydro copper's in SLI.
for a while, gaming was great. i was playing games in 2160p, and getting ~120fps.
things were lovely.
shut down the computer for about a month, set it back up last week. i cant play any games without stuttering now. not sure if it was the new nvidia driver, or what. ive tried disabling SLI, lowering quality to absolute garbage, and playing in 1080p. nothing fixes this.
at first i thought the evga nu audio card i had was conflicting somehow, so i uninstalled and removed it. still stuttering. i tried closing precision x1, that doesnt help.
im pretty angry right now, because i spent a ton on these cards. any ideas? suggestions welcomed.

literally nothing, it was just shut down, as i was busy with work and using my office desktop mostly. if i had changed something, i would have a better idea of where to troubleshoot.

there was an update today, and i installed it, but i had the problem for the past week, so the last driver i had and this new driver that was released today havent changed anything

Do you have a spare hdd/ssd you could install windows onto to see if reinstalling windows helps fix the problem?

i do, but im not going to reinstall windows. it has to be the gpu. i can watch 4k videos at 60fps on youtube just fine. as soon as i start a game, it stutters. doesnt matter if i drop the game to 1080p from 4k, lower the fps from 120 to 60.. problem persists.. i ran a windows health check and windows is fine. this has to be related to my evga card, nvidia driver, precision x1, or some other driver conflict. ive read this is happening to a lot of people, but i havent seen any posts here about it, just on reddit and other places. some people say its the HWM on precision x1, so i turned it off, even tried closing precision all together.

Well if the issue is really the gpu's the problem will show up in another pc if you can test them in another pc. I'm guessing you've already monitored your temps & clocks of your gpu's and cpu while the issue is occurring and everything looks fine?

yeah temps are great and no overclocks.. i really dont want to take apart these liquid loops though, but i think im going to and just rma these things. my 1080ti's were great, i was stupid to upgrade. im positive if i put them in this machine, the game would work normally again.

literally just found the issue. gamebar. once i shut it down, the game stopped stuttering. i originally didnt go into Details on Task Manager. once i did, i saw gamebar, stopped it, tested the game and it worked.
you may incinerate this thread. thanks for hanging out n chit chatting with me.

i find it bizarre that the gamebar software could cause such a huge issue. but it was definitely that. rebooted, had gamebar running at startup (as per its norm), started the game and had stutters, really bad. shut the game down, closed all the gamebar crap, and started the game back up. worked great, 2160p, averaging 112fps. unbelievable.

to be more specific, for archival/search purposes, in task manager, in "details" there are 5 microsoft xbox utilities. all 5 need to be turned off/disabled.

Keep this thread alive so others learn from it.
Also, some times people either get stutters from certain drivers or when running PX1 in the background. I always have mine shut off.

almost make sure to double check in task manager/services, and arrange by name (alphabetically) and go to the very bottom, make sure all 5 xbox services are stopped. somehow i still had one running just now after a restart and it was making me stutter. after this game im going to just straight up delete all the xbox crap off this computer because its garbage.

Yeah, I always disable that gamebar stuff. I never knew it had issues, but always wanted to avoid the issues before they started.
