I've never seen any performance increases from any card I've owned when overclocking the memory. I know that some cards get better results than others, and I guess I've always been unlucky. When it comes to the 2080ti specifically, has anyone seen any significant performance increases? And at what oc level did that increase manifest? I push mine close to 1000+ once and didn't see any difference. What are your experiences?

Ask both I guess. I would care more about games than benches, but I've not seen any difference myself in either.

It makes more of a difference in benching then games usually. You get the ram to +1500 or so it's pretty noticable in benching.

Does memory downclock if it gets too hot?
I don't I'll be doing any memory oc, but I'm curious if it has similar thermal throttle safeties as GPUs and CPUs.

No it doesn't down clock, if you get out of range like not enough voltage for your overclock it will artifact. Or just to much overclock even with enough voltage it will artifact.

Since GDDR6 has error correction, too high of an OC may not have visual errors but will slow performance. You have to work up and validate increases.

If your card has Samsung memory, +1000 is pretty safe. Micron, I’d start at +500 and work up.

A memory OC isn’t going to take you from 120 FPS to 160, but there are slight gains which can be had.

I see most gains from 1500 - 1700 on memory but you need a bit more voltage on benching anyway.

I just recently went back to factory with my 2080ti XC Ultra. Noticed no difference when gaming, but now max temp is 65c instead of 70-72c. So to me not really worth it. But if arbitrary benchmark scores matter to you, then you want to OC it.

My gaming overclock settings, I think it helps to OC the memory...

And a video of it in action:

Yes, but it depends on the game. For benchmarks it's definitely worth it.
