Good afternoon everyone,

So I'm running into an odd scenario.  I would say 9 times out of 10, my 2080ti FTW3 runs perfectly fine.  I start up my computer, temps are super low, under load (playing Black Ops 4 at max) it gets only to a max of 60C.  However, there are times when I boot my computer after coming home from work, and my card boots in a weird state.  The middle fan on the card will go at extremely high RPM and there will be 3 individual Red LED lights that turn on near the back of the card.

The only quick fix I have right now is just to turn off my computer, and boot again (restart doesn't do anything).  Once I turn on my computer again after this happens, the card works completely fine.  No temp problems, no performance problems.  But I would like some guidance as to why this is happening, it just seems like an odd occurrence that happens sometimes.

Sounds like a power issue to me. I would contact evga support, and ask them what exactly does the three red lights mean.

I was literally just going to write up about this exact problem happening with mine. Every morning i get this happening until i shut pc down and reboot. three red lights and middle fan goes 100% and I have no control over it through precision X1. Definitely not a power problem as I am using a Corsair RMX1000w psu and also the fact that it will run fine the rest of the day after the reboot goes to show it isn't a power issue. I been testing this all week long even waited 12 hours after morning reboot to see if it will happen again but it does not. Only in morning boot up for some reason.

set up is
CPU- 8700k
Motherboard- Gigabyte Gaming 7 z370
Ram- GSkill Trident Z 32gb
GPU- EVGA Geforce RTX 2080ti FTW3 Ultra
Cooler- NZXT x62

Like Zange, I have a Corsair RMX1000w PSU.  I have had it for a couple years. Not ruling out that it could be that it has gone bad, but I don't think so, as for me personally, this problem happens rarely.

this is what the three red lights are like. I couldnt get the video today but i will have one tomorrow morning if not tonight. It is definitely after I don't use my PC for more then 12 hours that it does it and goes away after i reboot. Still for something i payed a premium price for i would like to know if it is something that can be fixed with out having to RMA as im aware of the shortages the company may have already.

This happened to me on Monday and hasn't happened since... Is your card booting like this consistently?  Just curious, but I'd also not want to worry about this anymore.

Also wanted to add the PSU i have on it isnt even a year old and i also tried it on my RMx 850 PSU and same result. unless this GPU is not compatible with a Corsair PSU then i cant be PSU.

For whatever it's worth, when I did the BIOS flash for my FTW3 and it all went south, forgot about being a FTW3, X1 only showed 2 fans, etc, I also had those three red LEDs by the power connectors come on.

Once Jacob got me a recovery and new BIOS flash, everything went to working fine and no red LEDs.

Thanks for the update Jacob.  Any sort of estimation when the firmware update will roll out?  Just curious, no rush.

One of mine just started doing that.  Problem is it doesn't go away no matter how many reboots I do.   Hopefully that firmware update takes care of it.    Precision X1 detects the card, but is missing one of the fans and no LED control.

Followed instructions, and emailed you as well.  I try to run the 2080 Ti FTW3 batch file and it says “Hardware does not support the HEX file (device 0x2B).  Please contact FW team.”

Just noticed something else odd.   As I mentioned, Precision X1 (v0.3.5.1) detects the card, but no LED functions and only 2 fans show up (and spin rather erratically).   What I just noticed is when I check ICX it only shows the GPU temp, not all the other components.  If there isn't some way to force a firmware update through Precision X1, I think it may be RMA time.

Tried all that, power cycle, both versions of PX1 (3.3.3 and 3.5.1) with a clean install each time by deleting the directories.  Hex file still won't take, no prompts from PX1 about firmware or any updates.

@division, there is a firmware update thread around here where Jacob listed three new firmwares for the various 2080 cards. ("For those with RGB LED and/or Fan Control Issues" - since edited to remove the firmwares) and updating mine caused the exact things you are seeing.

Jacob sent me two firmwares to flash with that in just moments fixed everything back. I would bet you won’t need to RMA. It’s still early in CA.

My unit arrived a couple of hours ago and everything was fine until I installed PX 1 which said that it wanted to update my firmware as soon as it tried and failed to do that even with a reboot the three red lights stayed on and my GPU second fan is running at hundred percent & the first and third fan and not running at all!
PX1 later updated to 3.5.1 , still no joy. I do have precision XOC 6.2.7 also should I remove that and wait for the fix later today?

P.S. MCU fixed it!! https://www.evga.com/supp...ewfaq.aspx?faqid=59742

So after 42 hours of flashing my GPU the problem does still occur, updating MCU did nothing for me at least.

Are you saying that the batch file part of the flashing didn't work? for me it only works when I shut down most of the taskbar hidden icon apps, run the batch file as administrator and manually uninstall both precision XOC and X1 and physically deleted the folders from program files. I haven't installed precision X1 yet , XOC will do for now, as I'm just happy to have the fans and LEDs at default settings for now and I wouldn't mind X1 coming out of beta first.

Well, time for an RMA.  I took out the 2nd card and just left the one with issues installed.   Nvidia settings dissappear, PX1 won't load, it doesn't recognize it as an Nvidia card.

Well this just keeps getting worse and worse.  Now neither card is showing.  Nvidia drivers install but never show the control panel as if there isn't a card installed.  Also, I find one of the glued on steel decal/plates fell off and stuck itself between a 10g NIC card and the motherboard.  If that thing conducts, who knows what it did.

I'm still trying to get it to work, but there may be 2 video cards and a motherboard coming back via RMA.
