I realize not many people will have both cards with each type of cooler, but has anyone seen a big difference in temps between the 2 slot XC cards and the 2.75 slot XC ultra 2080Ti cards? Or maybe someone from EVGA has some idea of what kind of temperature difference can be expected when opting for the larger XC ultra card? Is the temp difference worth giving up a 3rd slot?

Can anyone from EVGA comment on this? What are you seeing for temp differences between the two coolers in testing? I'm sure there must be some differencw. What kind of temp difference can someone expect by buying the ultra? Or is there no difference at all and it's just aesthetic? Thanks

Ultra has bigger heatsink, obviously it has better cooling capability. I assume non ultra has same temp but more agressive fan curve to keep same temp but the difference is most likely marginal.

2 slot is IMO for those who do not have room for 3 slot card.

I only have one of the two cards ATM so I cannot say.
We can only buy one card model of the RTX 2080/2080 Ti and the only cards I can find on the market are from 3rd Party and $1999-$2100
Not going to go their. Maybe EVGA will lift the US restrictions by X-Mass.

Expect anywhere from 5-10C lower GPU temperature with a  lower fan noise as well.

Great. That's exactly what wanted to know. Thanks Jacob!

I can tell you I am quite pleased with my 2080 Ti FTW 3 Ultra's cooling - have been running it hard in gaming and testing for about a week now.

I started with a 2080 Ti XC and was getting max 70-72 degrees while gaming and  have recently upgraded to the XC Ultra version and yeah like Jacob stated temps are anywhere from 5-10 degrees lower.  I want to say the card is quieter since the temps are lower but that I am not 100% sure of.  The XC Ultra is substantially thicker than the XC but crazy enough I think EVGA should have made this a full 3 slot card instead of 2.75 since it is already using three brackets.  Is it worth the extra $50?  I would say Yes as long as it is compatible with your system.  5-10 degrees less is pretty substantial in my book for any card not on water.

I have 2 XC Ultras in SLI using a 4 slot nvbridge, and my temps are still really good on these cards. I only have ever had blowers on cards, and now i'm a fan of these coolers cause of the temps. My bottom card never gets above 60 C and the top card never gets above 67 C. My blowers always hit the 82 C threshold immediately. So im a fan. The only thing that i was not a fan of was having to buy a new computer cause of the slot spacing for SLI, but that's not really the cards direct fault, more the fault of most motherboards having terrible PCI-E spacing.
