I've had this card for almost 3 months now. I've been using Precision X1 to drive it since day one. When I first installed it I updated the card BIOS as it suggested. Since installing, I figured a stable OC, set it and haven't tinkered with anything else in X1.

In the past week I've noticed my card getting extremely loud while gaming. Not only that but it's like a pulsating sound, loud for 30 seconds, and then not loud for 30 seconds, etc.

Looking into X1, I can see fan 1 (and only fan 1) is ramping up to high RPMs as soon as it hits 80C. I'm not sure why as the curve shouldn't do anything until 84-85C. Here's a pic of the fan curve settings as well...

Any ideas on what's making this single fan go crazy?

I'm not sure why but I cannot add a youtube link of the behavior either to the post or to this reply...

It's Precision X1. It's buggy. You aren't the first to report this same behavior.

Sure but what element would make this occur? It seems more likely I would have observed this behavior all along rather than it just randomly occurring with no config changes to the software, nor updates to the software. I went ahead and updated X1 and still see the same behavior.

    turn On "Enable Automatic Control"

    set hysteresis to 5

harmonics can increase the sound level --> set both fans to the same curve - is usually quieter
