Noticed last night when I got close to my case while it was running folding an electrical buzzing sound from the card.  Seems stronger near the HDMI port area.  It's not a whine (or at least not one I've heard before).  I don't know though if it's been doing this for the last 9 months and I just never noticed it or what.  Seems to be boosting/etc. just fine, no artifacts or overheating etc.  I extended the warranty to 5 years when I bought it so it's definitely covered just wondering if this is actually normal for the RTX cards or something I need to keep an eye on.  I know I've read about coil whine but I don't think that's what this is?

Oh, forgot to mention, whatever it is it gets stronger under load.  I started investigating cause I was hearing it while folding with fans on my folding profile which is more like about 50%+ on all fans where they're usually running much slower under general use and if I shut Folding off, or shut off games (does it during gaming but not nearly as loud) it would pretty much go away.  You could still hear it if you put your ear within a couple inches of the card.

Sounds like coil whine to me.

Could be coming from the GPU or PSU.  Usually when I put high load (Higher FPS), my coil whine increases.

As for folding, depending on the project, I'll get some coil whine with certain ones but not all.

    It's normal.

Thanks I wasn't sure cause it wasn't a whine like I'm used to like a transformer whine.  Maybe it's just a much lower frequency vs what I'm used to.  It's definitely coming from the HDMI port area of the card.  I could grab a video of it if that would be helpful.

Not running a powered converter for the HDMI cable are you? Friend of mine was having electrical sparks coming off the cable, generally power-over-HDMI isn't supposed to be a real thing.

Does sound like coil whine. Fahcore 21 projects cause it on my 1080 Ti card, but core 22 projects are generally fine.

    Have water, will cool.

Woops I should have been more clear, not HDMI specifically, just the rear of the card where the DP and HDMI ports are.  If you look at a Hydro Copper block, that open section covered with mesh.  I'm actually using a 6 and 8? foot DP cable each for my two monitors.

Forgot to update.  I ended up dumping the WU cause that noise really had me nervous.  I had folding shut down for a few days actually to test system stability post-windows update removal and post-BIOS updates.  Fired Folding back up and wow that noise was horribly loud (thought maybe I was imagining it).  It's now running a new Work Unit with no issues.
