It's the first time I've run this project, so appreciate the help. I've run PrimeGrid before without any problems.

What GPU are you running?

When I check off Allow AMD/ATI GPU, it results in this:

My BOINC Manager Settings:

But I currently have the "suspend when computer in use" overridden.

(edit:) Resetting the project didn't help.

Okay, doing those things got me a task, but it is using the full GPU and very little CPU. Opposite your previous screenshots.

Re: 2019 Formula Boinc 2019/05/23 19:09:53 (permalink)
You need a app_config.xml

<app_config>
   <app>
   <name>amicable_10_20</name>
     <gpu_versions>
         <gpu_usage>0.2</gpu_usage>
         <cpu_usage>1.0</cpu_usage>
     </gpu_versions>
   </app>
</app_config>

This will get you this and the file goes into DRIVE:\ProgramData\BOINC\projects\sech.me_boinc_Amicable

After you Exit wait one minute and then start Client back up and then Wait a moment and the Click Activity - Run always.

Nice work bcav.

Do you think I could run 2 GPU tasks and a 4 thread PG task on my 8 thread rigs without bottle neck issues? My cpu’s are pretty old.

Well that was a joke. Time almost tripled on the amicable tasks running 1 4 thread pg task. I’ll jump in more when the sprint ends.

Sorry was out. I kind of think Amicable is not for me any longer.
I did change back to only 2 Tasks Per GPU, but also NOT running PG on the same Host.

     <gpu_versions>
         <gpu_usage>0.5</gpu_usage>
         <cpu_usage>1.0</cpu_usage>
     </gpu_versions>
   </app>
</app_config>

GPU version is limited by CPU now, so it's not correct to compare two powerful GPUs here. You're basically comparing CPUs.

Going to test run CPU

Re: 2019 Formula Boinc 2019/05/24 22:56:10 (permalink)
From just looking at my completed tasks it looks like the GPU tasks are not worth the effort. Each GPU task gives the same point return as a CPU task yet the GPU tasks take 10 times as long to run. Average GPU task is taking 2 hours 10 minutes. Average CPU task using 15 cores is only taking 20 minutes. I left one core free for the GPU and I am now wondering if I would be better off stopping the GPU completely and putting the 16th core into the CPU runs. i9-9900k with a RTX 2080 in case any one is wondering.
