It's beyond messed up how prices went up during Fall of last year due to miners then by the end of the year started to go back to normalcy. Now with the start of 2018 prices have gone back up. The mining community has caused so much harm that something has to be done about it.

Didn't they say that most people who made money in the gold rush sold stuff to the miners.?  So companies selling the asics and people reselling everything on ebay are the ones really making all the money?  The ROI on most of these rigs and hardware is usually near 10 months from most of my calculations....and in 10 months all that stuff is outdated....so they are mining just to make the money back that they paid the original person for the hardware.  Seems like it matches up with how the old Gold Rush went.

I guess i should say "some" manufacturers are gouging (bitmain or any of the other asiic mfgs who are starting to charge ebay prices for their stuff are prime examples)

Smart miners aren't the majority today, nor in the gold rush.  But yeah, if you can find 90 to 120 day ROI, then you will make money for yourself....not the manufacturers/ebay.

I think everyone feels it's a bubble. Bitcoin is supported on people mining for more bitcoin but the reality is as it gets harder to mine what remains over time the support from miners will dry up and the value will go down. It could take months or years for that to happen but it is clearly not a system that will grow in miners to support it and most others are about the same way.

this is how I see it, (now this is only how I see it). Mining is going through the same levels as properties (houses, flats even bedsits) where the demand is, the price is always going to shoot up because if someone has it and there is demand for it then they can set any price to it. You need the investment to build up a portfolio to keep you raking in the cash, how do you do that, you raise the price of services that you offer. Why charge x amount when it is fair when you can charge y amount to increase your spending power to buy more things that will make you cash.
