seems the card was was not fully engaging
the solution was to quit folding on the cpu - which really is no loss

General rule of thumb is leave one CPU thread open for each GPU you are folding on. So, if you have an i7 with 8 available threads and 2 GPUs, you would want to only fold on the CPU max of 6 threads.

I, unfortunately, have a core i3 driving 8 GPUs and it is throttling them all :(

I did pause folding on 4 of the 8 GPUs and I got to see them all hit 100% utilization, but the PPD was still less than throttling 8 of them...

Kind regards,
light

I hear ya.  I have a celeron feeding 7 cards.  Works fine for mining.  Folding, not so much.  I found the same thing, as you, it is better to throttle some of them than to pause the GPU's.  I have another 6 cards I could add if my Ethernet hub didn't fry itself.

Well I see I'm at zero production. I'm guessing my son paused folding last night to play some games and didn't unpause it when he was done. Unfortunately I won't have time to unpause it until I get home this afternoon. There goes about a million points for CMO...

Is that the most likely explanation?  Or did Madrias pay a visit to your house to resume his shenanigans?

That is a real possibility.

Haven't talked to Mad in a while. Used to run into him on steam from time to time and chat a bit. But he's usually on later than I stay up. Miss seeing him and some of the others from years past on here.

The GTX 1080 is the ASUS STRIX version. I have it running at 2063MHz sustained core clock while folding, and +500 memory. (for 11Gbps effective) The system it's in is using an i7 8700K @ 5GHz with no other GPUs. (so it gets full x16 3.0 bandwidth)

My FE runs warm on air even at stock. I’ve averaged over 800k from time to time with the right wu’s In Linux and I don’t OC there.

That sure hurts Pacific 54.5 k ppd is long way from 2.4 m

GTX 1070  just got this: 14124 (38, 3, 75)
Which is saying this: 453848 Est PPD
Which will bring my already low average down more. I guess it's time to double down.
