Best Buy invoiced and shipped my card on Dec 6, but due to the Christmas postal logjam I didn't receive the card until today (Dec 30), which is over the 14 day window to register for the 3yr warranty. Did the postal system screw me out of the step-up program?

No, the 14 day window is free register for step up. You have up to days to purchase the extended warranty (gives you two extra years or 7 extra years) and you can still step up.

Thanks for the quick reply! Too bad there's no way to account for the transit time into the free warranty period. I might have to go in-store to do the good old return-and-rebuy to get a new invoice date.

Plus if you do purchase extended warranty it gets added onto the new card...
