Weird - almost all gaming laptops seem to be 1080p or 4K now, and no 1440p anywhere! I'm looking at upgrading my existing almost 4 year old laptop (in signature - Gigabyte Aero 14) which has a 1440p screen which imo is an ideal resolution, but almost nobody seems to make that res on a gaming laptop now. I don't see the point of a 4k resolution on a 15.6" screen, just a waste of battery and GPU power.

Is anyone aware of any 1440p 15.6" gaming laptops? Aiming for 2070 Super GPU and around i7-10875H CPU, but it looks like I have no choice but to go 1080p. I want to keep the price around $2k. Chime in if you're aware of anything. The only one I've found so far is the Asus ROG Zephyrus G14, but it's only 60Hz and 14".. I really would prefer 15.6" and at least 120Hz.

Cheers.

Have not heard of such a thing.  Sounds like a panel fab issue where no one is fabbing at the right pixel density and size to get to 15.4" 1440p.

I have a HP Omen 4k and the screen is just beautiful, but it is 17.6" I believe. Dunno if 4k on a 15 is worth anything lol

Can downgrade the resolution to 2K on a 4K screen lol

Strangely enough, many of the manufacturers have disabled that resolution, meaning it isn't even an option in Windows display settings for those machines.. it's just 3840x2160 or 1920x1080 (or less), but no 2560x1440. You can open NVidia panel and force it with a custom resolution, but that apparently is quite high risk to the panel, and even NVidia gives you a full warning screen about it which you have to click to go ahead before it lets you attempt to do it. From what I've read, laptop manufacturers haven't really been giving any satisfactory explanations other than "we don't support that resolution" (which of course isn't an answer at all), or "we wanted to provide the best for our customers" which is clearly a completely bs non-answer. I've read multiple articles in the last day or three about people asking the same question, but nobody can get a straight answer. It's quite bizarre.

1440 isn't much of a selling point now a days with current laptops being released. However with 4k laptop like other have posted can be downscale for not much added benefits besides possible fps gains

Even on a 17.3" screen, everything would be soooo small on 1440p, not to mention 4K.... Too have young eyes again

That is why windows has built in scaling, you can scale everything on the desktop to be 300% or more larger....

    IKR? Sad.

Wow.. does this put me in the same group of people who lament the loss of 8-track players, DAT, and Beta video?

    What’s an “8-Track”.... JK

What we need badly is lossless CD quality digital music stores... we have the internet bandwidth now, we have cheap Micro SD card storage now, but everyone seems happy with lower quality music then we used to have via CDs.

Nice! Thank you, I'm going to take a good look into those!

..argh, all 15.6" sold out, but damn I like the specs on first glance, even liquid metal on the CPU, mechanical keyboard(!), huge 94WHr battery (same as my current Gigabyte Aero 14)

Nice discount, but I'm after a 15.6" model. No worries, they are on my radar now thanks to you.
