Currently, I have evga 1080ti I paid $500 when 2080 ti was released. Planning to put another 1080 ti in the system (SLI) once 3000 series is released. Do you think that 1080 ti will cost $300 from used market considering 3060 is going to be $400? I don't have money to pay Nvidia nonsense price for 3xxx series. Even if I had, would not pay that much. I said nonsense because it is completely made up BS by them and it is not even inline with inflation. SLI 1080ti setup for additional $300 would give me another three years of run. To even start with 3xxx series, one need $400+...****?

I checked SLI these days on Youtube channel TheSpyHood and it looks like SLI really works well.

eBay has 1080ti but they are $500+ which is also BS knowing that 3070 is going to be $699 I believe.

Thanks.

Pretty hard to find a good 1080 Ti for a decent price.
You might be better off selling yours for a high price and getting 2x  2080's  for around the same cost, as to what you're planning now. ?
Much easier to get some 2080's for cheaper when the new 3000xx series comes out ....

I know I'll be selling my 1080 ti once I replace them with a 3000 series card. I don't know how much their price will drop when the 3000 series come out, but I'd expect the 2000 to have a bit of a drop as well.

I'd consider 2 1080 tis, 2 2080s, or some 3000 card to all be possible options, depending on where the prices on each of them end up falling.

That said I'm no longer a fan of SLI, and newer features may be coming into a stronger point when the next gen is released, so I'm personally leaning to a 3000 card, though which one depends on price and performance gain.

Because of low shipping volume (like none) on the new series - would not 'dump' a good card .

    Was watching used pricing in southern California last 3 monthes to upgrade my 760 & the pricing was almost MSRP or over on eVGA nVidia based cards : 1070 $200+ 1080 300+ 1080ti $460+ 2060 $315 2060s $400+ 2070s $525+ 2080s $600+ ...so ended up buying a new 2070s below $500 .

After the 3070/3080 announcement last few days : 2080ti $699+ , 2080s $550, 2080 $450, 2070s $380, 1080ti FE $360+ ..there are alot more cards for sale and prices are all over the place, but you can see who wants to sell today with a tempting price .

Used 1080 Ti's are still selling for 400+, new ones even higher. Ironically it tends to outperform the 2080 in MS Flight Sim, and often tie it in other games. It's still a very strong performing card which is why it's held onto its value for so long.

MS Flight Sim is DX11 based , so that may account for it . My understanding was the 2070 Super was on par with the 1080ti .

I had to go back in check, but the 1080 Ti was 1 FPS off the 2080 at 1440p, and tied it at 4K. Hardware Unboxed thinks it's because Flight Sim loads 7-8GB of VRAM, and the 2080 only has 8GB while the 1080 Ti has 11GB.

This is a good question. It also depends on if any warranty is still transferable or not.

Personally, I am sporting a 1080TI and plan to sell it once I get a new 3080. But I always go with whatever the market offers at the time. And with mine having a water-block, seems half the folks are not looking for one of those an just want the fan versions. That tends to be a price point as well...

I could get decent price. I have a Golden 1080 Ti FE that runs all day undervolted at 2050mhz core and 11.5ghz memory on a EVGA 2nd gen AIO. I have a brand new AIO for it in box as a spare.
If my nephew does not become a better human, I may reconsider updating his system with it and sell it for a 2080/90.
As far as performance, unless it's specific features like RTX, I am equivalent or slightly above a 2080.

    EVGA X99 FTWK / i7 6850K @ 4.5ghz / RTX 3080Ti FTW Ultra / 32GB Corsair LPX 3600mhz / Samsung 850Pro 256GB / Be Quiet BN516 Straight Power 12-1000w 80 Plus Platinum / Window 10 Pro
