I've had this card for a couple weeks now.

Fans get CRAZY loud and the temps sit around 84 constantly while gaming. Is this normal?

    Hi jkight89 and welcome to the EVGA forums! I know exactly what you mean since I initially had the same "issue" with my card of the same model but as it turns out the temperatures  seemed to have leveled out after a few days of constant use and running a benchmark for several hours. The good thing is 84C is  still an acceptable temperature and the card's performance will not be affected negatively the fan speed is also normal at those temperatures as well.

    Did you limit the fan speed? When it goes past 60% its INSANELY loud.

    Define insanely loud? Do you play with a headset? I'd say that if you can hear the card with your headset on, that's pretty loud.

    Perhaps we need more details, does your case have good airflow? Maybe even pictures of your setup could help.

    No limit set on the fan speed, all I did was run Unigine's Superposition benchmark on a continuous loop for 8 hours and the temperature never broke past 84C which is the thermal limit before the card starts throttling to keep itself from getting any hotter. I did notice that the temperatures and the speed seemed to have settled in the mid 70s after some use.

    I can hear them even when im mid game with my headset on. I turn them down to 50% via precision but have to do it each time i boot up.

    You Must push the heat out of your case ---> before the GPU recycles it, brings the heated air back into the cooler

    ACX cooler is great at moving the GPU heat out ---> mostly to inside of your case, not much heat goes Out the Back of the card

    Its all about case size & airflow

    This Case ?   Nano S

    Max your case fans

    What is your case setup -- how many what kind of fans --> which ones blow In & which ones blow Out

    Positive air pressure usually works Best

    Set a custom fan curve:better to keep it cool than try to cool a hot GPU
    basic curve - Temp in C =10 = fan speed % ---> 50C = 60% fan
    aggressive curve - 30% min fan speed & Temp in C +20 = fan speed % ---> 50C = 70% fan

    Ah...not to be critical, but why do folks stuff a ~300 watt GPU in a tiny case and expect it to run cool?  That's generally the trade off because you can't quietly move enough volume of air though the box.

    Bumping this thread as I’m still having the same issue even after upgrading my pc and getting a h500i case. I also just completed an RMA to EVGA and the return product does the same thing.

    Let me guess, you installed the GPU with the riser and the GPU intake fan is basically blocked by the side panel.

    I would replace the thermal paste on the GPU chip..Liquid metal TIM like Conductonaut is amazing stuff and doesn't take very much..Liquid metal is THE absolute best (except for LN/Sub-zero cooling) with a thermal conductivity of up to 10 times or more than that of conventional thermal pastes..See my post #12 here, it really made a dramatic difference on my card temp..Food for thought.

    See also: How Liquid Metal Affects Copper, Nickel, and Aluminum (Corrosion Test)..The cold plate on your card's cooler is bare copper.

    Replacing the TIM won't void any EVGA warranty you might have on the card as long as you don't damage the card in any way while doing so.

    Ambient temp will greatly affect your temps too, if your room is hot, components will be hotter.

    See also: Why does my EVGA graphics card run hot? in the EVGA FAQs.

    The Maximum GPU Temperature (in C) is 91 for an NVIDIA GTX 1080 Ti GPU chip, so you're still in spec (but may be throttling) as stated above.
