Hi there,

Since the FTW3 has dual-bios, i want to flash the master bios. Anyone has a good and stable bios for the FTW3?
I've been looking on the forums, but can't find it. I wanna squeeze more out this card, since i am going to put a waterblock on it.
Current OC
Core 2076
Memory 6003
Temp 55c max with aggressive curve
Voltage 1081mV 100% Powerslider
Powerlimit 127%
Templimit 91c
Power and temp limit are unlinked

Keep your GPU at 40 C with your WB and the Slave BIOS and it should Rock with the OC software that is available

Doubt you'll find any custom vbioses for the FTW3 as nvidia has pretty much locked down vbios editing for pascal. You would also want to flash the slave & not the master.

Its been over a year since the 10 series cards have been out and no one has cracked it yet. Don't hold your breath. It seems AMD are also following suit since their BIOSes are also tamper proof (even altering the name caused it to not boot). The best option atm is the XOC BIOS intended for LN2, but that is designed for the FE with 7 power phases. Not sure if it's compatible with the FTW3. I suppose with 2 BIOSes it doesn't matter if you brick one.

The T4 bios works on the FTW, though, it drops some of the video outputs.  Adding voltage doesn't do much, though.  Temps are everything with pascal.  The colder it runs, the higher it'll overclock, and the better it'll perform.

You could do the shunt mod

It's already got 355 watts of power limit available to it with the slider all the way up.  I'd check GPUz sensors tab before doing the shunt mod.  I doubt it does anything for this GPU.

It will help if this is going on.

Well, yes.  I agree that it would resolve the issue.  However....I would never hardware mod and void my warranty in order to fix an issue that's squarely on EVGA's shoulders to fix themselves.  There is a flaw in the bios.

IMO, putting liquid metal thermal paste on shunts isn't a hardware mod as none of the original hardware has been changed out for other hardware.

lol, I'd be willing to bet that EVGA sees it differently....I know NVIDIA does.  It bypasses a safety feature built into the GPU....that's a hardware mod.  You may as well have soldered a wire bypassing the shunt resistor.  Same thing.

Yeah, evga/nvidia does see it differently. I'm just saying in my opinion it isn't a true hardware mod as you're just applying some thermal paste to a component on the pcb.

Once you start soldering wires, changing/adding hardware onto the pcb is what I consider to be a true hardware mod.

Hardware mod = Permanent physical change.

Soft mod = Can be changed back to original.  If I pull all of my GPU's right now, you couldn't tell which one had the shunt mod done.  I know which one it is, but no one else could tell.

Your warranty won't be void as long as you don't short the card out in the process.

I dont do the shunt mod since i am afraid of the liquid metal dripping down. I'll just try to find a custom bios and flash it.
