So recently (the past week) I have noticed that my new 1080ti hybrid fan for the ram likes to turn on at full blast for no reason I could have started my computer for the morning and it will do this some times it want to turn on and off several times a second. I have narrowed It down to how it sits on my mobo. if it moves just a hair down its fine for a bit but its still start going full blast. currently the fan is at full blast and It still does this I have added a print screen of my temp readings. The gpu is not overclocked. I have checked the seating to the mobo and have reseated it several times. but nada the card is all the the way plugged in and locked. The card is just a bit big for the card and cannot close with this card in it but it is just big enough to allow for me the hook up the card and run it till I get the new money for the case any ideas on what to do to fix this currently the fan for the memory has been forced to run at a lower speed

So your case is pushing on the gpu? If so I'd recommend looking at a case that can handle the gpu as you have allready pointed out the issue but maybe until then run it without the side cover on?

It could be very rapid temperature spikes that are causing this. i recommend moving the fan Hysterisis to 5 degrees Celsius in Precision XOC

not sure fan hysterisis changed to 5c would help as the spikes would need to be quite high to jump up to 100%. It may be worth a try. I think it may be more of the issue of the case pushing on the gpu but the OP will have to clarify on that

The case does not put any pressure on the card when the covers are off. You litterally cant put the covers on. The only pressure on the card is due ti its own weight.

is it sagging a bunch and that's what your saying if it move a little bit the issue doesn't happen but if you let it sag it does? Just wondering what kinda case and Mobo you have this card in? Just trying to figure out what you meant by if it moves a hair down it's fine for awhile

just cut off some of the plastic foam the gpu came with to make a support. Yes it looks like it was sagging never really thought to check for that. I'm going to let it sit for a while make sure its fixed

Sounds like the card may have a faulty fan controller. After manually adjusting the fan to run at a lower speed does it go full blast again later on?

evga's RMA are fast if you have the extra income just do a cross ship RMA and down time = 0 you just have to pay them colltral that comes back later when they receive your defective card. But the standard RMA only has a processing time of 1-3 days once it reaches them so not to long either way. There is also ear open to cards under 20 or 30 days something like that where you pay 25$ or something close and they pay for your shipping and no need to front colltral but that's only available close to purchase
