I'm sure we have all heard through out our life that you get what you pay for, so my question is this... What corners other than a 1gb VRAM chip did Nvidia cut to offer the card at $500 less? Please explain your intelligent thoughts as to what corners were cut if any, I want to clarify that I'm not putting the 1080ti down as I'm actually trying to find one to Buy to replace my current Titan x hybrid Maxwell, iam just curious...Iam referring to physical quality of components not performance. I'll give you examples.. are the FE PCB the same quality as the Titan xp ,Are the capacitors the same quality? I understand the VRAM is from a different manufacturer, I believe is micron? Is micron reliable as a brand? You guys get the idea.. please explain your thoughts and thank you

Both appear to use the same brand of components. The titan xp uses a 7+2 single fet per phase vrm while the 1080 ti uses a 7+2 dual fet per phase vrm. Both uses micron memory, only difference is the 1080 ti has its memory clocked 11 Gbps vs titan x @ 10 Gbps.

The Ti has a much better designed PCB due to having MORE and BETTER components. Check Gamers Nexus PCB overview.

I've seen the review. The mosfets used on the titan x & 1080 ti are both Fairchild. Memory on both are micron, only difference is speed of chips being used.

Titan Xp is for people who want to blindly acquire the "best" they can and do nothing to it, or for serious OC tweakers who want to mod the card to get maximum performance (water cooling, shunt mods, etc.).

They are not binned chips that are guaranteed to be better than other cards. The memory is the same lottery game you play with all other cards.
 
If you take a look at Overclock.net's Titan Xp thread, you'll see core and memory overclocks all over the place.
 
I got an okay overclocker in the Titan Xp, but it's noisy and gets incredibly hot. Frankly, I was a bit offended at the price premium I had to pay for something that really just isn't built nearly as well as EVGA, Gigabyte, or Asus versions of NVIDIA cards. Out of the box, it's a Founders Edition Titan Xp, and you have to spend extra time, money, and warranty invalidation if you want to bring it up to snuff.
 
I have no doubt that the Titan Xp is better than the 1080 Ti Founders Edition. Legitimately better than a 1080 Ti built by a good company? Heck no. I pulled the Titan Xp out last night and put my EVGA 1080 FTW2 back in and significantly preferred the gaming experience (noise, heat, stability, lack of crashing the drivers for no apparent reason).
 
The Titan Xp is being returned.
 
I have a Zotac AMP Extreme 1080 Ti on the way and plan to replace it with the EVGA FTW3 when it's out.

Isnt the Titan Xp a gully unlocked chip.. meaning, it has more cores than the ti. Everyone focused on memory, components, and so on.. maybe i mossed where it was posted that the core is fully unlocked versus the ti that is like the original Titan X (pascal) that had the same core count at the Ti.

The OP was asking about the original titan x pascal not the new xp.
