Hello my friends,

I am new here. So first things first. My name is Pepp and I am from germany. I own the 1080 ti ftw3 for ~5 month now and overall I'm very happy with that card.

The first time this card worked perfectly but since 2-3 weeks one of the fans is going crazy. For example, if I play csgo, two of the fans start to spin (everything is fine) but then the 3rd fan starts and is super loud and fast. This goes one for about 5min, then the 3rd fan slows down. Just to go crazy again after another 10min or so and so on. I have installed a fresh windows and the newest driver from Nvidia, but nothing changed.

I have downloaded the precision XOC to see the rpm of the 3 fans (see picture).
My questions are, is that a common thing and do I only need to change the 3 fan curves or not? I am not that experienced with doing that.
And why does that only appear since 2-3 weeks?
I just dont know what the problem is. :)

I am playing on 1440p.

My system:
Win 10 64 bit
Mainboard: Asus ROG Maximus Hero X
CPU: Intel Core i7 8700k
GPU: EVGA 1080 ti ftw3
RAM: 16 gb

Best regards
Pepp

When the fan goes crazy can you slow it down using precision?

Does the issue occur with precision xoc uninstalled from the system? Have you inspected the card to make sure all the fan cables are fully seated to their respective fan headers?

Yes it does. Thats why I installed it in first place, to see what the problem is.

Atleast now I did. And nothing changed.

Can you test the card in another machine to see if you can replicate the issue in another system?

Are you talking about that switch from normal --> oc ? If so, then yes it still occurs.

Yep, that is what I was talking about. I'd recommend taking the card to a local pc shop to see if they can reproduce the issue before rma'ing the card.

Best regards,
