Can we stop the idiotic "1080 Ti vs 2080 Ti" comparisons? Its not logical to compare two products where one cost nearly twice as much as the other.
The 1080 Ti is comparable to 2080
NVIDIA purposely falsified the naming on new GPU's (took a titan grade GPU and named it xx80ti then took real xx80ti and named it xx80) just to make previous generation look much worse, while the facts are as we are seeing now in benches, 2080 barely can beat 1080ti (at the same price segment).

Duh. That's why it's important to keep things in context. 2080 Ti $1200 vs 1080 Ti $699 for 30% more FPS on average at 4k. Which may be worth it for some. 2080 $800 vs 1080 to $699 for 1% more FPS on average at 4K. It isn't worth it at all, unless the extra power reduction is worth it. Huge flop by Nvidia. They should have worked harder at getting Raytracing and DLSS out at card launch. Even then, from what I heard for Raytracing in FFXV (one reviewer actually tested it) it doesn't show anywhere near the 6X increase over a 1080 Ti.

No it's exactly logical to compare them, because the 2080ti should be a standard 2080. Let's look back 980ti to 1080 20-35% gain 1070 equaled the performance of the 980ti. To further illustrate 1080 to 1080ti 25-35% gain The 2080ti should be a 50-75% over the 1080ti to justify its existence and still not at that price point. Nvidia did not brand a Titan a 2080ti it branded a 2070 as a 2080 and a 2080 as a TI. This is a pure unbridled cash grab and since AMD has offered no pressure the only way to stop it is to not buy, but far too many people like shiny new objects so expect this price point for many years to come.

Maybe so, but I don't think Nvidia really cares as long as the money rolls in. I'm upgrading from a Titan Xp to the 2080 Ti, which basically makes no sense, except that I'm looking for a boost in VR and 25%-30% means less reprojection and more supersampling. It 'tis what it 'tis.

What is up with the poor performance out of the RTX 2080. It can barely beat a GTX 1080Ti in select games. The GTX 1080Ti has better performance for the money. The RTX 2080Ti should of been the RTX 2080. That would give people a good performance increase. Just like going from a GTX 980Ti to GTX 1080 did.

oh I totally get it. Honestly I think the tech will provide a much bigger boost for the workstation end user that has specific use cases that involve VR, 3D, CAD , etc. I'm actually interested to see the Quadro cards they come out with or even a newer line for VDI (just bought Teslas) For some people the card will make perfect sense and for others that simply want the next best thing regardless of the cost to performance ratio then it is what it is. For me, I don't want to spend that type of cash so I'll probably just scoop up a new/used 1080 Ti. The 2080 just falls flat for some reason and I think as others have stated, the Ti version should have been the price point for the 2080 and then they could have just made the new titan be the $1000+ card again. NVIDIA seems to have become greedy. As someone who owns NVIDIA stock I'm still torn on this business decision.

Nvidia is most definitely greedy, and with AMD turning to CPUs and leaving the high-end GPU market to Big Green there's literally no competition. They can charge whatever they think people will pay. It sucks, but I have a Pimax on the way and I need the extra horsepower. If it weren't for that, I wouldn't bother with this generation. It's extremely overpriced and RTX technology is probably just a marketing gimmick.
