Question guys, do you all feel that with gpus like these is a good time to upgrade a psu? I'm running an older corsair tx750w, thinking of upgrading to a g3 850, but I haven't really had issues....But do you guys highly suggest it?

Scarlet-Tech Gamer Nexus goes in depth of the FTW3 cost analysis versus the SC2 and other brands: Spoiler Alert, the FTW3 overclocks the same as all other cards.. it's a 100% Silicon Lottery.
With the quality design of GPU's like the FTW 3 1080TI doesn't look like there is much of a silicon lottery anymore. As JayZ says based on Nvidia's chip, few winners maybe a few losers. More clearly stated by Gamers Nexus right in the title - EVGA FTW 3 1080 TI - HELD BACK BY PASCAL, given power, voltage limitations and GPU Boost 3.0. So given Nvidia's chip shortcomings given the quality design of this card, what has EVGA done? From what I've read, designed a card that hits 10205 at EVGA stock in Time Spy, blows through games at 1440P even if you're running at 144HZ and seems to laugh at Doom in 4K 60HZ, as I believe I saw minimum FPS around 79 in Doom 4K. And all this as it would seem running at no more than 60 degrees C. Could a gamer want more out of a single GPU? No such thing as over engineering. From the stats, one quality GPU that will keep us fussy gamers happy for a long time, yet still backed up by EVGA's quality customer support and warranty. Congrats EVGA. Guess it will take Nvidia's next round of chips before they can try to catch up to you.

Seriously..given how overbuilt it is...this card begs to be hacked (liquid metal shorting of two points on the PCB?) to increase the voltage, and heavily overclocked. Is discussion of this tolerated here? Would be curious to know how it works, and how effective it is

Since EVGA, unlike most other AIB's makes their top end FTW 3 in a two slot solution, they make SLI more viable than the others. I guess SLI is about "fun" as a single FTW 3 can handle any game, any refresh rate up to 1440P and any game at 4K 60HZ. And IMHO and from past SLI experience, praying for an SLI profile that might never come or scale properly, or getting a profile so late I have already finished campaign mode, thank you EVGA for that one GPU solution for any game, any refresh rate up to 1440P and any game at 4K 60HZ.

As someone who just switched from 980's in SLI to a single 1080Ti I have to agree. It was a never ending list of issues and minor things with SLI and I just got to the point that I didn't want to deal with it anymore. If DX12 and Vulkan Multi-GPU gets to the point where every major game supports it and we can have the 100% scaling it can provide (when done properly, look at Sniper Elite 4) then I'll think about multi GPU again.

I think DigitalFoundry posted a video about 4K performence, this card is doing like 68+~70s for witcher 3. I would say 5k is a little too much for this card unless you dont care about hitting 60 frame rate

Marketing shenanigans. If you want 5K, I'm sure going SLI would be idea but you won't see anything beyond 60Hz as of yet unless you're talking about a combination of screens via surround with a higher Hz, than two in SLI might not be enough. If that is the case, I would wait for Volta.

Ya, I'm not sure what " Asus Strix claimed it could handle 5K gaming" means. Don't think I saw any benchmarks at 5K. Most consumers/reviewers I think are focusing on what the 1080TI's do in 1440P and 4K. You can look at the Gamers Nexus site (link below). In addition to the FTW 3 review they have reviewed the Asus 1080TI Asus Rog Strix. For example, 4K Doom, FTW 3 has a low FPS of 73, overclocked the low is 80. Asus Strix low number is 77. They are both around 100FPS average. So performance wise, it seems to me whatever the Asus Strix could do so could the FTW 3. I've seen Gamers Nexus and other reviews say performance wise (including overclocking) the high end AIB 1080TI's are performing relatively the same. So it's about warranty, customer service, build quality, thermals and price. EVGA also kicked in a 2 slot solution. I've noticed Steve Burke is throwing up mostly chart after chart on thermals and noise with his 1080TI reviews. Nvidia's Pascal chip limitations must be killing this guy , who is an extreme overclocker from way back. Personally, being a gamer, I'm more than impressed with 1080TI performance. http://www.gamersnexus.ne...s-ftw3-gaming-x/page-2 PS: man, I still have 52 more posts to reach 100? That's not good.

I have already ordered the EVGA 1080Ti FTW3, I'm bit concern about the noise. As per gamernexus its a bit louder then the competition. Anyone who already own FTW3, what are your thoughts?

Its quiet IMO, but you can easily set the silent fan profile for even lower noise. There is certainly enough cooling performance there.

Good review, I just don't understand why reviewers keep saying these cards (SC and FTW3) are "louder" than the Founders Edition. No, they aren't. I own a FTW3 and a Founders Edition. The Founders sounds like a leaf blower at high fan speeds, the FTW3 sounds barely audible, even at 80% for me (which is a non-issue since its cooling performance is so good I never need close to 80% speed). I put my Founders Edition under water with a EVGA Hybrid kit just because of the noise.
